We had an amazing stay at this beautiful and very unique boutique hotel. We strongly recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a high quality, privacy and great experience. For us this was the best hotel in Sri Lanka - the staff was very friendly, professional paying attention to every single detail. Upon arrival they helped us with our luggage, welcomed us with a nice coffee and home made cakes. The room was amazing - very clean, specious, comfortable and had fresh flowers from the hotel garden :) The food was excellent - the chef cooks with love and one can taste it ;) We absolutely loved this place and can’t wait to be back! If you are heading to Nuwara Eliya, this is definitely a place where you need to stay.

Impeccably tasteful interiors, a library with a collection of antique books being an epitome of dedication to historical heritage. Perfectly polite and helpful staff. A unique collection of breakfast options and our personal must-try of the restaurant is the variety of soups with delicious freshly baked bread.

Nothing, it was perfect

The team takes pride in making the service excellent. A very well maintained European heritage hotel with a beautiful lawn and rooms. Services were excellence ! Some of the food we really liked (eg banger and mash, leek and potato soup), Our chef woke up at 4am to make us packed breakfast for our 5am hike; and they were kind people to have taken care / make coffee for our driver too. Thank you to the team again.

Colonial style decoration, with a touch of modernity that transmit you a sense of comfort. The staff was really helpful and very polite, the rooms were spacious enough and welcoming. Very good breakfast.

A beautiful Hotel located in a beautiful garden. Only few rooms but the level of servie is amazing. The staff was doing their best to help us and the food was really great. they can help you to book the train ticket if you plan to. Highly recommended.

In this hotel, we experienced the best hospitality ever. The hotel manager fulfilled all our wishes. He was polite, helpful, and very obliging. The breakfast as well as the dinner were amazing - everything was made freshly, and they considered our food preferences every time. As we were the only guests in the hotel (it was off-season), we got an upgrade for free. The room was beautifully and well-equipped, calm, clean, and we felt safe and comfortable all the time. As it is colder in this Sri Lankan area, the manager offered the "chimney experience" (sitting in the cosy lobby while they fire up the chimney). We got coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in our room attended by self-made cookies (they were so good). When departing, the kitchen chef gave us a little box with his self-made cookies. We had a really great time there.

Little hard to find. Need to wait for the doorman to physically open the door to enter the property which can take some time.

Great location, nearby the town centre and major attractions of Nuwara Eliya Friendly staff and host. Helped us shape our itenerary and suggested nice things to do. Also arranged transport for us last minute. Very helpful. Nice customised breakfast Room was very modern and brand new.

We received a warm welcome from Gavin, the property manager, who has a keen interest for architecture and interior design. This is evident as you enter the boutique hotel, with its rustic and Sri Lankan vibes. The rooms are very spacious and from the ground rooms has a nice bayview to the garden. We went for the bed and breakfast option and had a very nice English breakfast. We have already recommended Chimneys to our family and friends and will definitely stay in touch with Gavin for interior design advice for our future home.

I would highly recommend staying here and we would stay again if back as the quality is exceptional and far surpasses what you generally find in Sri Lanka. It’s not the hotel’s fault but we were the only people staying in whole place for two days so it didn’t have the atmosphere and restaurant was closed, bar is not operational. Perhaps they should have advised beforehand that it would be closed. Property is very secure but you need to ask staff to let you out as the front is locked, which felt a bit weird to not be able to get out without asking. Once the hotel has more guests and word gets out it will be exceptional. as many of the mainstream hotels the tourists go to with tours are poor quality and old whereas this is a very beautiful and well maintained property with very nice and kind staff.

The grounds of the property are very beautiful and peaceful. The rooms are exceptional. Every detail in the rooms are perfect, lots of seating areas and the window seat. The room is large and bed was very comfortable with really nice sheets. The bathroom is nice and large and good shower. The heater worked well and was quiet. The cleanliness is perfect, there is not a mark anywhere. The quality of the furnishings are really good and everything is very well looked after. The view from the room to the garden is very peaceful. The wifi worked well. It was very quiet as we were the only people staying in the hotel for the two nights! There are lots of common area sitting areas. The western breakfast was fine, served in nice sun room. The staff were very friendly and helped in every way. The manager that everyone spoke about in reviews was on holiday. I cannot fault the property and rooms in any way as it was perfect. Place is 7 minute walk to main road or quick tuk tuk ride.

Small country house hotel with lovely gardens overlooking a forest area on a quiet road near the town centre. Exceptionally clean with tasteful furnishings and decoration. Gavin did his utmost to meet all our needs.

The staff could meet the guests wearing traditional English outfits that are worn in the United Kingdom at hotels of this class. During my stay the staff wore very informal clothes.

The property is very new and modern. The atmosphere is very genuine in an English way. Rooms are very comfortable, the furniture in the room are of high quality. The food served at the hotel was excellent.

The bar was not open. We had a choice of a bottle of red or a bottle of white wine only. Although the staff were lovely we felt we were in a homestay not a hotel. The manager was not present.

Room 7 was very spacious & comfortable. Loved the seat in the window. Excellent hot shower. Very tasty food for dinner & breakfast. Quiet location. Pretty garden.
