It advertised bike hire to cycle around the lake but the bikes were very poorly maintained and dangerous (some had no working breaks), but we were pleased management refunded the hire cost after we spoke to them. Staff were generally otherwise not very helpful and couldn't answer basic questions about excursions or other things about our stay. There was also a very large tour group who were loud and disruptive over dinner and staff did not ask them to be more considerate.

The proximity to nature and lakeside setting was a real highlight - we enjoyed watching land monitors, monkeys, birds, and flying foxes during the day and evening. The lake view superior room was lovely (if a little far from the lake.. you can see it but only slightly through the trees) and very comfortable. Nice terrace and chairs out the front. Pool area was outstanding as was the dinner and breakfast buffets. Location good as close to top cultural triangle sights. Go to Lake View Kitchen nearby for sunset drinks and dinner for a change.

There are limited sunbeds and when the quest leaves with the towel still on the bed. I think the towels should be collected on more timely manner so other quest would know which beds are available.

We loved this hotel as it's lots of small buildings spread out in the gardens with a beautiful pool surrounded by palm trees (just watch out for the monkeys!). Service and staff were excellent and location is good for all the sights - elephants, dambulla, sigiriya etc. Our rooms were really clean and comfortable - we booked a suite so we had a separate room for our kids and it was incredibly spacious with 2 bathrooms and a living area. Pool is large and has lots of sunbeds around and the food for the buffet is good. We also used the spa and the treatments were great.

Upstairs shower in the villa (EBONY) - the drain was not working and it resulted in me flooding the whole bathroom.

It is a colonial lodge located in a large park next to a lake. The Deluxe apartment/Villa was very nice and spacious with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a separate toilet. The beds were very comfortable. and there was a reasonably nice view of the park from the terrace. We really liked our butler, he was attentive and would bring us whatever we needed. and cared that we had enough food and drinks, especially when we didn't really feel good the first day. The buffet dinner was amazing with such wast choice that everyone would find something they liked. A point especially worth highlighting was that there was a separate room full of cakes and desserts.

The communication with staff is a little difficult. No gym or yoga classes not even yoga mats for a 5 star hotel was slightly disappointing.

Cottages while very clean did not feel like 5 star hotel.

Hotel grounds with cottages spread out plus monkeys jumping around, various birds and iguanas in the lake made us feel close to nature.

I have booked a room with an early check-in which was 50$ more expensive than the normal rate. it the staff in the hotel at least four hours to find a solution.

Breakfast was beyond our expectation, it had a wide variety to choose from our servers specially Asanka was so friendly and helpful. Also Ravin @ checkin was exceptional. He went beyond his ways to get us a booking at one of their sister properties which we were struggling to get a booking due to over bookings. Staff at Cinnamon is just wonderful, true ambassadors of the hotel.
