I think it’s important to be aware that the beach isn’t the most secluded, and to set your expectations as I had envisioned it as a very quiet beach. It is of course a stunning beach, but it is very popular. There are people who will be out the front of the cabanas from around 8am until sunset. It can be quite noisy at night/early morning too, with the trains honking their horns in the early hours, also noise from people on the beach and dogs barking. If you’re a heavy/normal sleeper you’ll be fine, but I found myself getting woken up at around 5am onwards. The bed is also quite hard. We also thought breakfast was quite overpriced/basic compared to what we have had elsewhere in Sri Lanka. In all honesty these factors are just for people to set their expectations. If you are aware of the beach business and the potential for noise, you will have an amazing stay

we loved our stay here and it was the most memorable location for our holiday. Beach out the front is stunning and we snorkelled every day, seeing turtles each time and lots of fish. Lovely to wake up and just walk onto the beach. Staff very friendly, helpful and funny and helped us out a lot, especially with the confusing train timetable! Our rice and curry here was the best we had in Sri Lanka with fresh fish and fresh prawns.

Two small things, I’d really like to see them swapping out plastic straws with metal ones, and plastic bottles with glass bottles! Let’s save the turtles!

We were completely charmed from start to finish! Galawatta cabanas is an absolute must if you’re looking for the perfect beach setting. We couldn’t quite believe it when we stepped into the warm clear waters and saw sea turtles swimming beside us!! What an incredible experience. I would just say, if you do see other people touching the turtles - protect the turtles at all costs! The staff felt like family, and were the most wonderful hosts!! We chose to have Sri Lankan breakfast both mornings and it didn’t disappoint, egg hoppers were INSANELY delicious! Everything is home cooked to perfection. All in all we’d highly recommend staying here, thank you for a magical time :)

The fact that you will have to leave eventually

Perfect place for those who like a spacious place with a lot of privacy. With a natural swimming pool filled with giant turtles right in front of the cabanna. The staff really knows how to take care of their guests. Lovely spacious garden with comfy sunbeds. Delicious breakfasts/dinner served at your private covered terrace and so you can enjoy your meals with a stunning oceaan view.

Perfect stay: the staff is excellent, the food is good, the cabana is large and clean and the beach is the best. We only booked for one night and ended up staying three. We can’t wait to come back and swim with the turtles again. The staff was super helpful with food/PCR test/recommendations etc and made it a perfect stay!

Breakfast could be in price as a price is higher than other accomodation in area. Some wild animal destroyed my bag but manager solved it. In the room isn't tea or coffee.

The turtle beach is so crowded. The area that the hotel locates is not that clean, though the room was really tidy. At the restaurant we were assumed to be from Russia and the server did not understand that we don't speak russian. Our room neighbors had to get us menus in English behind the desk. The hotel was ok, but too much tourists in the area... We are used to more serene places.

Atmosphere was nice and different. The bathroom was outside which was something i haven't experienced before. Shower was super cool and it had hot water. Turtle beach was right in front of the hotel.

The wooden cabana and bathroom could do with some upgrades as there are lots of ants crawling in the bathroom and our shower was not working well the flush needed to be fixed. However the 2 apartments are lovely spacious and very comfortable.

The location is excellent and it’s got a rustic charm but you have to be prepared for it to be very basic as it’s simple on the beach property. The staff is very helpful and the Sri Lankan breakfast super!

Bungalow is pretty dark, not much light. Windows has no glasses, so you must keep curtains closed. It's located in front of most busy beach, so a lot of people walking in front of your bungalow. I'd definitely go for a room instead of bungalow.

The resort is literally on the beach with turtles.

-Electricity was unreliable. We couldn’t use it till later on in the evening. - If you’re not an insect person, like me, it is difficult to relax and feel comfortable there. - Although the location is great, it is very expensive for what it is. The facilities are standard.

The location of this hotel was situated on turtle point which was great (keep in mind that this means it also gets very busy throughout the day but stunning in the mornings). It was nice to lounge on the sun beds within the property and have easy access to the beach. We especially liked the bathroom of the hut, it had a great hot shower!

The request to pay cash upon your arrival was a surprise and we had not allowed for but staff were accommodating. The rooms are great but are a little tired (items worn out and an electric shock off the light switch. The beach is popular with visitors who camped against the beach /complex wall in front of the cabanas so no privacy when on the balcony
