Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rooms aren’t sound proof and you can hear loud people talking from next door/below.
The hotel has the equipment from when it was a tea factory and it has a lot of personality. The restaurant staff were very friendly and the buffet dinner had good choice. We were given treats on arrival for our honeymoon which was a nice touch. One of our favourite hotels from our trip

FranceYes, it’s up a narrow , windy road for a few kilometres but that is a small price to pay for the fabulous views and welcome.
I absolutely loved the Heritance Tea Factory. I would go as far as to say that it is one of the best places I have ever stayed, it was a real treat. This hotel is special in so many ways - the building being a converted tea factory; the unique check in - no stress, and so welcoming , including of course a cup of tea; the proposed activities, the quality of the food, the location……….. but most of all the welcoming staff. Everybody had a smile on their face. We did the tea plucking and Jayanthi and Krishnaveni made it a very memorable and unique experience. The cherry on the cake for me was the complimentary birthday cake and staff singing happy birthday to me as I left. It was part of an unforgettable birthday for me. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel.

United KingdomThe shower was a little dated, but to be fair, it worked absolutely fine. The mattress was a bit firm for me but that’s also just personal preference/needs.
The location is stunning and the whole experience of tea plucking and tasting was amazing. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was great. The preserved building is quite something and the grounds are immaculate. The entire thing was just utterly unique and felt really special. (They do seem to run out of tea to purchase quite quickly so get in there fast!)

Our stay at the Heritance Tea Factory was one of the highlights of our holiday to Sri Lanka. Great memories. Amazing location! We had a lovely walk down through the village and into the tea plantations which were stunning. Unlike other reviews we found it was extremely good value for money. Lovely food and very attentive staff.

ChinaIt’s on the mountain top, the road towards there is not good.
This heritage hotel is a former tea factory and the machines are still working today, the hotel is in good atmosphere and unique taste, very comfortable room and delicious buffet dinner and breakfast. The garden outside the main building is built down the mountain top, very beautiful and well maintained, the staff called Pathmaraj is very warm and introduced this very very lovely garden with his whole passion, it’s very nice and warm memory. And we visited Mini Tea factory and also the staff there is quite nice, her name is Krishnaveni, she gave us a quick introduction about tea making process.

United KingdomOn arrival it transpired that there had been a misunderstanding about the fee quoted online. We arrived late in the dark and tired. The receptionist informed us that we needed to pay an extra 100 dollars for the children (we had booked 2 twin rooms and stated the ages of the children in advance so it was very clear) but the lady argued with us repeatedly and insisted that we pay despite the fault not lying with us. Fortunately the manager was contacted and he sorted everything out. We did not pay any additional fee.
The hotel is beautiful and situated in an amazing setting high up on the hills of Nuwara Eliya. 25 mins out of the way from town. It is very colonial and old fashioned. The food is delicious and plentiful. We also had a very relaxing message- and this was offered to a 12 year old too unlike in the UK so she was very very happy.

FranceIt was really far away from Nuwara Eliya so once you’re there, you have to stay there. The room was nice, in a very old English style but pretty small. Though the experience was nice, we felt if was too expensive for what it is.
It is really in an amazing decor, in the middle of tea fields and with a great views, worth the experience. Dinner and breakfast buffets offer a lot of choices and very nice things.
