In its current state the property is just basic and needing refurbishment. There is no internet.

The hotel is run down, the swimming pool was dirty and not suitable for swimming. The rooms were basic, with bathroom with hot water. The bed was comfortable. The internet was basically nonexistent, but the receptionist (Roshan?) was kind enough to allow us to use her personal hotspot in the reception area, therefore no Internet in the room. The dinner and breakfast was great 👍🏼 The property has a lot of potential and hopefully the new owners will bring the property to a state that it deserves. If so this hotel would be a great place to stay. If you are lucky you might see an elephant in the area behind of the hotel, just a stone throw away. Overall, a good stay but has lots of potential. I would only recommend this hotel for a short stay in its current state! The receptionist/manager and the helper are friendly and flexible people!

well, pool is not clean to swim in

I recommend this hotel to all nature lovers. A lot of birds and animals around! Lost place for travelers who want a different experience. Not for luxury seekers but for adventure lovers. Amazing sunset! For us much better option then stay in the city! Helpful people around!

Fan speed of the air conditioner couldn't be turned down. The manager had one of the staff look at it but I don't think he could understand me and ended up just leaving. The aircon was not fixed during our stay. We booked this place because of its location and the fact it had a pool. it had a pool but the pool was greenish and we didn't want to use it.

Lovely staff. Beautiful view of the lake. Saw two wild elephants in the lake in the distance. Nice sunsets at the property. Quiet area and good breakfast.

The hotel is on very beautiful location, surrounded by the lake. The view is spectacular. An ideal spot for bird watching. Sunrise and sunset can be admired. Nice comfortable rooms and bathroom. Good and tasty food.

We found the pool water too murky to swim in - so that was a disappointment.

There is no cover, blanket or bed net. I got stung by some bugs (not mosquitoes, perhaps ants), and it swelled and hurt but didn't itch a lot. Loratadine and some hormonal creams could relieve the symptoms. Staff said the elephants only come during the dry season, not in winter.

Wonderful view of the lake and great swimming pool. Nice staff. Great dinner, breakfast and the welcoming drink. We booked a room without AC by mistake, but the fan was cool enough.

The location is the best! You can spot wild elephants from the premises. Staff is very very friendly and willing to accomodate al your wishes.

Nothing!

We arrived early enough in the morning and the room wasn't ready. But the guys got together and had a room ready for us very quickly ☺️. As we were travelling by TukTuk we were able to check in and leave our belongings. In the evening we had a lovely swim in the pool follow by tasty dinner and good few glasses of wine 🤣🤣 Highly recommend this place. Rooms are very spacious with beautiful view of the lake. And if you are lucky enough, you can see elephant walking by 😄

I didn't like the fact that I couldn't stay here more than a day!

This property is one of the few hotels with a great view for the amount you spend. It has a stunning lake view and is excellent for nature lovers. There were a lot of birds in the evening, and the sunset was magnificent. There is a nice pool to relax while watching the sunset and pool beds to relax if you need. It might not be the ideal location for luxury seekers, but it is excellent for any traveller who loves nature! Comfortable rooms and wonderful breakfast. The manager and staff were really helpful, and I was happy to see a staff full of young blood! The manager said that the owners had changed recently, so hopefully, it will be even better when I visit the next time!

The elephants are roaming around the area and the garden in front of the restaurant is very relaxing and every room has the view of the lake. Very friendly staff with great hospitality. I'd recommend you to stay for more than a night to really enjoy this place.

The hotel is beautiful. Very clean. Lovely helpful happy staff. Big swimming pool. Lovely restaurant with good food. Large portions. Fish from the lake. The hotel is surrounded by a beautiful lake. Wildlife everywhere. Elephants. Birds. Iguana. Mongoose. So much more. Large comfortable rooms. What more could you ask for. Will definitely recommend this hotel.

We heard that the place had a change of management recently, and there were a few renovations to be done. But with the reasonable prices and with all the amazing food and experience there was nothing much to complain about.

We were initially a bit sceptical when we saw some negative reviews posted under the property, but we decided to give it a shot. And guys, that was the best thing we did in Sri Lanka! The place was the BEST! We had the most amazing time with our friends! The rooms were super comfy, nice and clean, and the pool was really clean and had the best view. The place felt so homely, and the staff was really helpful! We even went on an "oru safari", which was a safari in the lake, and it was one of the best experiences we had in Sri Lanka. The food was great as well. Some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. Thank you so much guys, for the amazing experiences, and keep up the good work! Even though it's been a few days since you started, you've got a long way ahead of you! Cheers, and hope to see you again soon! <3

We stayed at Hotel lake park, Polonnaruwa. ( 9th December to 10th December 2023 - 1 night, 3 rooms ) There are very beautiful photos in booking.com which compelled me to book the hotel. I have pointed out major concerns we had below and have attached as many photos that i took during the stay. 1. One of our rooms was not ready until 4 pm even though the check-in time was 2 pm. They had an excuse for it. 2. No kettle and tea or coffee items in any room. 3. Pool water have not being cleaned from months ( We heard from people around that this place was closed for a long time and just being re-opened ). So we couldn't use the pool. 4. No wifi provided. 5. There are remotes that you can stare at but no television. 6. There are a lot of bugs in rooms and even some small lizard poo on the table top. 7. There was a power outage and they don't have a backup power. 8. We went to see the kitchen and decided not to take breakfast from them even though it is included in our booking. 9. Uncomfortable mattress. 10. Staff - Very unprofessional and not supportive. I hope booking.com will take some action to take this place out from the platform. This is my honest experience and I don't even know who owns this place. There is no personal issues with anyone in the hotel. Thank you.

The hotel surroundings are under refurbishment

The hotel is the best located in the city, just on the lake perfect for mature lovers who will see plenty of birds and maybe some elephants if you are lucky. The hotel manager is extremely nice and ready to help you for anything you may need. Nice room directly on the lake and breakfast
