Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAs said, party hostel and loud music until late in the night when other people were in bed. Some hostels have this vibe, so it's not a criticism - just be mindful when you book you may have some disrupted sleep. Also, there are several dogs at the property. All fine with me, but I did hear them barking loudly at other guests
Incredibly spacious private room in hostel. Really well thought out shared spaces, with a friendly and welcoming vibe from all. Location is so-so - a bit of a walk into town, but closer to other bits. Did have a great sleep the second night, as it wasn't so loud, but bare in mind it seems to be a party hostel.

New ZealandMusic goes on for a while in the evening. The location is a bit out of the way from the town centre, however it is closer to other sights.
Great for getting to know other solo travellers around a campfire. Staff provide train timetables and advise on local activities. The option of female only dormitories was great.

PortugalThe staff are very welcoming. They were always helping us out with everything and they were taking care of us like family. The dormitory 6 beds is spacious, the room has a locker. The shower works great. There is fast wifi on the fridge! The location is great, the garden is nice, they also have a firepit and lovely dogs and a injured squirrel. There is a fly catcher, so they will CATCH THEM ALL They have a lovely bar with huge speakers!! The party is like a crazy nightclub. It stops till the last person gives up, after that you can go to sleep.

GermanyBathroom was not very clean and blankets too thin for the cold nights. You can get a second blanket if you ask. Music rather loud up to midnight. They do not organize tours to Horton Plains.
It's not a party hostel but they have enough space inside and outside to sit together, chat, play and drink a beer. Nice breakfast you can select individually and yummy family dinner. Nice hikes possible from the hostel. They have 4 dogs:)

United KingdomCons - Thicker duvets needed as it was quite cold and you only get a blanket. All the guests had gone to bed and at midnight the owner and his friends started blasting music. It wasn’t modern/new, it was ‘lived in’. Dogs are harmless but they ferociously bark at you so if you’re scared of dogs I wouldn’t stay here.
Pros - HOT water

United Kingdommusic was heard from rooms but we went to be early
We stayed at this hostel in a private pink room for 1 night. We had alternative plans but the atmosphere of the hostel seemed like lots of fun, sit chat, have a drink and play with the dogs sounds perfect. We wanted a coffee in the morning it did take about 30+ mins to arrive which felt like an eternity waiting for my morning coffee. The bathroom was abit damp but so are most places we have stayed

DenmarkAnytime I spoke with the hosts, they seemed a bit distanced in interacting with me. Because it is a very social hostel, then there is always a lot going on and not always super clean, but it did not bother me. My bed was badly located in a room with the windows towards the sun, so I woke super early with sun in my eyes (could have used curtains)
A hostel with nice atmosphere, WARM SHOWERS and free, filtered water! That is cool. The rooms were quite nice.

United KingdomNothing, everything was good for the price. The only suggestion would be to get some curtains or blinds for the room.
We stayed in a private double room with en-suite bathroom. - friendly and helpful staff - dogs in house (6 of them - beware if you don’t like dogs) - great layout and atmosphere (party scene at night) - comfortable bed - great shower with good temperature and water pressure - nice food both dinner and breakfast

GermanyAnts and mosquitos in room. Regarding washing situation while travelling it is a downside is that sitting outside your clothes get full of dog hair. I was unlucky with family dinner. First night I ate earlier and second time I was the only one signing up, which was sad not only because of social aspect but also because I was looking forward to once being able to serve myself while traveling but couldn't and was a little pricey for that (compared to other hosts food and local food shops).
Relaxed vibe. In off season apparently not too much party, but still easy to socialize, which I liked. Everyone coming there seemed to be interested in connecting. Room just spacious enough for luggage, big bathroom for each dorm. Use of kitchen and free water. Big hugs to the dogs, there are so cute and cuddly, directly felt like home!

PortugalThe room I was in was not the great. A lot of humidity and there is not a real option to dry your things when they get wet or humid, which they will. This would be the main inconvenience of the hostel, something they could definitely upgrade
The hostel has an amazing vibe going on. Staff is really kind and helpful, the common area is just very cosy and homie looking, great to meet people and chill. The common areas are very comfortable, the breakfast has many options and is not expensive.

United KingdomIt's not necessarily bad if you intend to drink booze and listen to music late into the night. Evening activities invariably involve drinking games and the culture at the hostel is similar to being back at university. If you prefer a more quiet relaxed stay maybe stay somewhere else.
Very relaxed hosts, good food, friendly and helpful staff, perfect if you want nights of party, music and drinking. Hosts are good at giving advice about the local area and making you feel welcome. Rooms are what you get for the price - beds are comfy.

IndiaThe breakfast wasn’t too great for their prices and some guests may not be comfortable with the music playing till night. There are dogs who always come barking ferociously at you when you enter but keep in mind that they are trained ‘not to bite’ but just bark so if you keep that in mind, you’ll be rest assured that the dogs will only bark at you only while entering. Once you’re in, they’re the most docile and loving set of dogs.
Very social hostel with extremely friendly staff. The owner was also very helpful. The setting of the main table is such that everyone can sit and converse with each other. Lovely music playing up until midnight which I personally enjoyed. Truly felt at home.

IrelandWe stayed in the private room. It stank of damp, there were no curtains on the windows, the shower curtain was covered in mould and looked like it had never been changed, and we found a cockroach on the floor. Also we were there on a Saturday night and the music didn’t stop until well after 2:30am.
The staff working there were really friendly and chatty and made us dinner the first night even though we got there really late. There was a great atmosphere and buzz about the place.
