Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

QatarFabrice was the perfect host, the food was exceptional, the room was very clean and spacious. The location is the perfect place for a restful and peaceful stay in Kandy. Fabrice was even kind enough to organize a private tuk tuk tour of Kandy for me.

IndiaThe approach road to the property is very narrow that ramps down.
The stay in Le Leopard was beautiful. The property is developed in the midst if the forest and is maintained authentically. The views and the experience was beautiful. The rooms are clean. Overall had been a good and memorable stay.

United KingdomNot a dislike but more of a flag in case you have any mobility issues there are a lot of steps as the hotel is terraced on the landscape.
Le Leopard D'Argent is a real hidden gem. The location is in the heart of the tropical forest, so we were surrounded by nature and the wonderful bird song. The hustle and bustle of Kandy is a short tuk tuk ride away but if like us you want to relax by the beautiful pool then the hotel has everything you might need. Fabrice and his team will give you a very warm welcome and will help you organise excursions and pick ups. They really are ever so kind. We dined at the hotel x2 nights and the food is exceptional. There is a wonderful French cuisine menu and also local Sri Lankan favourites are on offer. Beers / wine are available too. The room was comfortable & clean with super fast wifi. I would really recommend this place :)

QatarI could go on and on about how exceptional the property is, the rooms, the facilities and the staff. What struck me the most, however, were the hosts. They are charming, accommodating, and clearly care about their guests' experience in Kandy. I was traveling with my father and they did everything they could to make us feel welcome and cared for. Oh, and the restaurant is probably one of the best in the entire country. 100% fresh ingredients. The potato gratin was spectacular.

AustraliaThe remote location meant that you need to travel by tuk tuk into the town and there were no local food options walkable. If you are happy to eat dinner at the hotel, as we did, it's fine!
The location in the hills was beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. Was so nice to wake up to the sound of the birds and the wind in the trees. Fabrice was an excellent host and the food was lovely. Isuru was our tuk tuk driver/guide while we were visiting. He was funny, knowledgeable and reliable. We had a lovely stay at Le leopard. Recommended!

United KingdomI liked everything.
A 15-minute Tuk-tuk drive up from Kandy and into the hills, this is a lovely, breezy spot nestled in a ravine high above the city. A very special place, run by very charming French owner and his Sri Lanka wife. The pool is lovely and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were eggs done any way you like, toast and fresh fruit. There are even monkeys playing in the trees while you’re eating!

IrelandMarginally not worth the extra money as we have experienced excellent Sri Lankan hospitality for far less money, but overall we enjoyed our stay. Laundry was 3000rupes which is very expensive in comparison to the local average of 300-600 and our clothes were not fully clean.
My partner and I spent two nights here at the end of our four month trip around Asia. We were looking for simple luxuries after our semi-budget backpacking. Willing to spend significantly more here than other Sri Lankan accommodation. The room was fab and had such luxuries as two towels per person and even a kettle for tea/coffee, which is few and far between in Asia in general. The hotel is high in the mountains and at least a 20min tuktuk to Kandy, pickme drivers cancel when ordering from the room but the owner has drivers who are readily available, for more than double the price of course! Bare in mind as you are in the quiet sanctuary of the mountains, there is no option for dinner other than the hotels French cuisine. We had this the first night and it was delicious, mildly expensive in comparison to local restaurants but tasty. The pool is nice and clean, a main reason we stayed here, to chill by the pool.

PolandFabrice is an extraordinary man. He helped us to arrange everything even better than we planned. He and his wife are most helpful people in the world. It seems like they read our minds whenever we asked for help. If you want to spend good time in Kandy I cannot imagine a better place. It is quite high above Kandy, which is very convenient. Tuktuk goes here 15mins. Hotel is like a little village in the jungle. Lots of beautiful birds. Food was amazing, we ate both asian and european things: everything delicious, and even kids found it very tasty. We went on multiple trips arranged for us and we are very thankful for best time of our lives spend in here.

CanadaThe place is a little haven from the hectic city. There is nothing much around it but forest - you are pretty much at the top of the road up the hill. It's quiet, nice decorated, staff are friendly and helpful, food in the restaurant was superb and worth the wait time (you must order and return to eat). Sadly we had to leave early the next morning so we didn't get to try the breakfast. Owner arranged tuctuc pick up and return for us and it went well. Recommend - wish we'd had more time.

Sri LankaThe location in the hills above Kandy and situated in the forest is quite special. Fabrice, the owner, is very welcoming and has great advice on how to make the most of your stay. The sounds of birds and wildlife, together with the cool air and relaxing atmosphere make the place special. Good food and a comfortable, quiet room with a view of the garden. For me, the best thing in Kandy.
