NetherlandsNo laundry service available, located in an area with little restaurants and lots of small details malfunctioning such as television, no key to lock door to balcony, toilet that keeps flushing. Having to change room, due to that toilet and then not turning on the airco in the new room. So a lovely place and they try to fix everything immediately, but could be so much better if they had done that proactively.
Lovely private balcony, especially in the morning. Lots of birds, squirrels and at night time bats to watch at. Spacious and nicely decorated room.

IndiaWe stayed in upstairs two rooms . Better they fix wall mirrors in the rooms also ( mirror was only in the bathroom) . Bath room wall need to be raised to the ceiling so that smell will not come to the room, Presently Bathroom is not fully closed up to the ceiling .

My room and the property were exceptionally clean. The bed was comfortable and there was sufficient lighting and power points. The food at the restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced. The beer was cold. Ahhhh! The staff was very helpful. Great quiet location. Do yourself a favor when in Jaffna, stay at the Gatetrees Resort… and maybe discover how it got its name.

United KingdomThe room was a bit dark and since there is building work currently the view was a little obscured. The WiFi in the room did not connect but potentially in rooms closer to the router (like in the old bungalow) the connection would be better.
Myself and my family (total 4 adults) enjoyed our stay at Gatetrees, the property is gated and secure. Rajendran, Sugatha and Karnan were all very attentive and helpful, with good recommendations for local activities. The food was tasty, particularly breakfast. The bathroom was clean and the shower had good water pressure. If I were to return to Jaffna I would stay here again happily.

The resort is set in a lovely location with a nice and serene garden and outdoor facilities. The rooms are modern with private bathroom facilitues. The resort offer 'home cooked' type authentic food of your choce, prepared by an Indian chef. Seafood was the best, so were the local puttu and hopper meals.

United StatesThe bathroom was a bit dark, the rain-showerhead didn’t have much pressure (luckily, the wall mounted showerhead worked well and there was plenty of hot water), and we had some trouble with the toilet (which the owner had fixed the following morning).
Gatetrees is comfortable, pleasant, and reasonably priced, with spacious rooms and a good restaurant in a quiet neighborhood. There are some small rooms in the main, older, building, which I didn't see. We stayed in a spacious room in one of the the newer two-story blocks. Our room #104 was on the second floor (20 steps up). The room was tastefully decorated, had high ceilings, 3 beds with comfortable foam mattresses, a ceiling fan and an a/c, a closet, a table & chair inside, and a balcony with chairs. The tall, wide windows let in lovely sunlight and there were very good black-out curtains to use at night. The Wifi was very good in the room (and the dining room) and there were no mosquitoes in the room at night. Their breakfast (Western or Asian) was very good. Their chef, from Kerala, made very good butter prawns, crab curry and so on in the evening, and they serve good cold beer, soda water etc. Oddly, while there were mosquitos in the restaurant between 6 and 7pm, they would disappear every night by 7:15pm! (Floor fans in the dining room would be nice for those who want to sit there during the mozzie-time.) The staff were very kind and helpful. If we get back to Jaffna, this is where we'll stay!
