Canadareviews are always subjective, hence this is just my view. As someone who likes to have a cup of tea in odd hours :), I wish there was kettle available to get hot water, at least in the common area. The owner was helpful in bringing hot water when asked for but at times, I get up quite early, and would like to have a cup of tea. Did not want to call the owner that early get hot water. So, availability of a kettle would solve this issue. Also, the water pressure, was low to my liking.
Stayed only for two nights, arrived some what late in the evening, The room was very clean, A/C was good, the breakfast was good as well. The owner was very helpful, and friendly. He arranged a vehicle for us to get to the wedding in the morning free of charge. There are a few eating places nearby though we did not have to use them.

We decided to stop in at the Golden Residence to break up our trip to Kandy. The owner was great and very accomodating. Our rooms were very large and spotless and the tour of the hotel gardens was fun. We had to leave early and the had a huge and tasty breakfast spread ready to go for us. Best value and cleanest rooms we have had to date in Sri Lanka!!

The bedroom was so beautiful, the comfiest bed, and the out door space was perfect for yoga in the morning. The owner has a garden full of fruits and herbs, he gave us a greta tour of the property. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in Sri Lanka. The owner also has a great shop, I bought a pair of super comfortable trousers, it was an unforgettable stay.

The house is very clean, very big room with a huge and comfortable bed, big bathroom and all you need (soap, toilet paper, towel, purified water). The location is perfect to go to the elephants orphanage, easy reaching them with the local bus/tuk tuk. The gardens is very beautiful, with lots of plants. The owner offered tea and bananas as a welcoming treat and a garden tour (giving me some fruits too), all for free. The owner is a very respectful, honest and gentile person. The best place I've been in Sri Lanka to be honest. The price is too low for all the benefits the owner is offering. Great accomodation, quiet, cheap and very comfortable. A plus is the hot water and the possibility to have breakfast there (the best garden flower omlette).

We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Golden Residence during our visit to Kegalle, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The facilities at The Golden Residence were quite satisfactory, providing a comfortable and pleasant environment for the stay. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and had all the necessary amenities to ensure a cozy stay. It was evident that the management takes pride in maintaining their property to a good standard. What truly set this stay apart, however, was the exceptional hospitality extended by the host. From the very beginning, they went out of their way to make sure that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable. Their attentive nature and willingness to cater to even the tiniest of needs made me feel truly valued as a guest. It was heartwarming to witness their dedication and willingness to go above and beyond to fulfill any request we had. I must emphasize that the level of friendliness and helpfulness displayed by the host is something I have rarely encountered in my travels. United KingdomApril is pretty warm and humid if you are from a cool climate. It is not the host’s fault, but try to avoid the muggy period unless you are acclimatised. Chandara also speaks quite a bit of German in addition to English. Gut zu wissen! The house is at Km marker 12.1 on the A19 road, about 3 km from the centre of Kegalle. Tell that to the tuk tuk driver.
We loved our stay with Chandara. He is an excellent host and the house is amazing. It is everything you might expect from a South Asian house, with lots of comfortable, classic and classy wooden furniture throughout. Our bed was a magnificent 4 poster complete with anti mosquito net. The breakfast was different but good, involving lots of new flavours to us. Best of all Chandara organised and accompanied us on an excursion to the Elephant Orphange and another place nearby where my son was able to ride an elephant in a humane fashion and then onto a tea factory where an immaculately attired, beautiful hostess, talked us through the tea making process. All in all, a fabulous day to remember.

The host, Mr Chandrasena was really gracious and kind, even treating us to his own birthday party with a small gathering of friends held on the day of our stay. We had lot of fun. The room was spacious, nice and very clean, with really clean and fresh bedding and sheets. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The value for money was absolutely fantastic as well, this is THE place to stay in Kegalle, or if you are on your way to Pinnawala or Greenacres.
