The food was not quite as inspiring as we've come to expect from Sri Lankan cuisine. The room could have been a bit cleaner - carpeted floors are tricky. Considering our other hotels in Sri Lanka, this one was on the rather expensive side for what it offered.

Great location to discover the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa, followed by a sunset swim in the pool. The rooms are large and comfortable, although slightly dated. Staff organized two bicycles for us on short notice and are generally very kind and helpful.

I really enjoyed staying at Ekho Lake House, room was lush so as sunset, attentive staff and great food. I only stayed there one night and had an early morning check-out, they’ve prepped me the most amazing takeaway food.

The swimming pool is ridiculously small and a bit dirty. There are only a couple of sunbeds for the whole place and so you have to fight to get them. IT wouldn't hurt to provide one set for each of the lake view rooms, we're only talking about 3-4 rooms.

Location is great, overlooking the lake and just a few steps away from the archeological site. The lake view room is really nice, large and comfortable. The restaurant is also good, the breakfast is amazing.

I loved the pool for dipping into to cool down, but not for swimming in.

This hotel is just gorgeous. Real attention to detail. Beautifully furnished, exceptionally clean and well turned out. You will not find a better location in Polonnarura for access to the ancient city. I watched the sunset over the lake with a wild elephant in the far distance (bring binoculars). Very friendly and relaxed staff - fab food.

A delightful place to stay for a quiet and restful visit to Polonnaruwa. The view across the Lake is beautiful. Our room was huge and very comfortable, and the staff were really helpful. We spent two days exploring the ancient city by bicycle, which was great fun and very convenient from the hotel (and we were grateful to borrow umbrellas!).

Well, the room was fantastic with a back door to the lawn facing the lake and also table for lunch with unobstructed views of the lake. very friendly and very helpful staff. Nothing to complain about and they go out of their way to accomodate you.

Can't beat the location. We were here for only one night, booked two rooms including the royal suite. Was told on site that we couldn't use the room but the staff gave us another suite. Was a bit disappointed but they really tried their best to make up with some nice offerings, including a boat tour. The view is unbelievably beautiful, place was quiet and tranquil, and a walk at the ruins next door at sunset is simply a magical moment. Small pool but very cute. Service is good, everyone is friendly and smiling. Really loved it.

Gorgeous location overlooking the lake and directly across the street from the archeology museum. Attentive service. Fantastic Sri Lankan curry served in an Inviting dining room. Gracious service. Expert management who helped us hire great tuk tuk driver with excellent English for a late afternoon tour after the crowds had gone. This hotel was the high point of our trip to Sri Lanka so far.

Wifi was miserable and the place can get very crowded as the common areas near the pool are too small. There were some noisy Russians next door which made one night miserable (I've seen this belore in other Sri Lankan hotels).

The food was very good and the staff is superb. The location is beautiful and a short walk to the ruins.

No spa or wellness facilities and the hot tub wasn’t working.

Staff incredibly attentive and spoke good English. Happy to explain dishes on the menu. Definitely try the Sri Lankan curries…so much food!

Lovely room and right on the doorstep of main archeological attraction. Attentive staff. Lovely sunsets across the lake and wildlife in the distance (elephants). Fruit bats flying at sunset were magical. Beautiful place.

The rooms require renovation. Still old carpet. Relatively expensive. Very small pool. More for cooking and chilling than swimming.

Location, location, location. Super positioned at the lake. Listening to the waves hitting the shore. Unforgettable sunset. Excellent food.
