best hotel in sri lanka! the staff is very welcoming, helpful and kind, the breakfast is delicious. The rooms are very clean, and the setting is magnificent, there is a view of the lion rock. Thanks again to the staff, it was great!

Too close to Sigiriya & Pidurangala rock, calm nature. The staff were really friendly. Foods are delicious 😋. Clean & confer table room. Highly recommended!!!

The place has amazing views of Sigiriya. We can see both Sigiriya Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rock from our room and from breakfast place. I guarantee this place has the best view in town. Also, on the way to town, if you're lucky, then you may see a giant elephant 🐘 and so many butterflies and birds. The place is so peaceful and located in the forest as its name but not far at all from town and restaurants. It takes 5 minutes by tuk-tuk (the host will call tuk-tuk for you with a good price), or you can cycle as the host provides bicycles for guests. I'm so thankful to the host, sister and little boy who helped us during our stay. They're so friendly, honest and helpful. I highly recommended this place. You'll be not disappointed at all.

The Spartan facilities can have some upgrades. Beware of the whimsicalwater heater, boiling hot at first and then very cold. It takes a while to be stable. Make sure you don't hurt yourself.

It's a unique experience staying here. The room is like a tree house situated in the forest. If you go out for dinner it's required to take a taxi. It's unsafe to walk in the dark because of passing elephants. Free bicycle is a plus.

The host is fantastic, and also the place. It's in the middle of the forest very close to the lion rock. The host will also tell you what you can do in the area and help you to organize all you need ! I really recommend it !

Our tree house (I cannot speak for the other ones) had mold which is very dangerous to breath The pillows should be changed because now they smell like mold Staying in a tree house in the middle of the forest we were expecting a few insects but the place needs some work done to prevent them from taking over the place It has a lot of potential and great people, hopefully with a few changes it will be better

The owner was very helpful and nice and deserves 11/10 We loved the area, even if it’s a little away from the main attractions/restaurants we could use the bikes for free to go around town easily Shower had hot water Breakfast was good

There was no room for toiletries in bathroom which was an issue as it was a wet room (easily fixable by having a cupboard!) & no sanitary bin in the bathroom. Photos didn’t most accurately reflect our room (we didn’t stay in one of the treehouses)

Most hospitable host - made 2 young girls arriving at night feel very safe. Breakfast was amazing! He was also very helpful facilitating our sunrise hike, giving us loads of advice! Went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable eg we had just got off the plane, jet lagged and tired so he ordered in local (amazing) food for us & offered to let us shower after our hike even though we had already checked out

It is in the jungle, so be aware that their may be bugs. However there were much less than we expected and I didn’t even need to use any bug spray while outside. Just something to consider if you are aren’t used it.

It’s a lovely property in the jungle, very cute cabins and a great value! The hotel staff is very friendly and welcoming, 100% recommend staying here! Location is also great for Sigiriya and Pidurangala, highly recommend hiking Pidurangala at sunrise, even though it was a bit cloudy when we went, it was still a gorgeous view. We also got to see monkeys!

Room wasn't in the pictures and was dated - could do with an update, but worked out for us. We however visited the newly built cabin for bigger groups which was really top noch so would recommend if you are more than 3!

Host was amazing and super helpful. We had a really good welcome, were given some amazing yoga classes in the morning and the overall welcome was just amazing. Really close to Pidurangala rock so can easily walk there. They can also lend you bikes to go in town and the lion rock. Breakfast was really good.

We had a great time at The Thick Forest. The host is really helpfull and friendly. You can also get bikes for free. We really recommend to stay some nights in a treehouse at The Thick Forest.

I can only confirm the previous reviews. The host is incredibly helpful, also organizes TukTuk rides and delivered dinner and even protects his guests from monkeys at the breakfast table 😉 Breakfast was also very nutritious. The rooms were extremely idyllic with views of the Lions Rock. The location is the perfect base for the surrounding hikes.

Very friendly and good English speaking owner! The house stands on stilts. It's very silent there at night. If you want to go up to Pidurangala, you can walk. It's about 1,5 km away.
