Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelShowers and toilets are outside your room. It is yours with a ket, but it is outside the room. Be advised. Also, you are in the jungle. If you leave food in the basket or in the open, expect ants and the like.
We are a traveling family. Truly, this is one of the most enchanted places we had the privilege to stay in. It is unique because you are in the middle of the jungle, without walls. The place is very relaxing, yet you feel the jungle, in the good way. The stuff is most delicate and gentle. The facility is luxurious. We had a great time. All the payments for your stay are dedicated to the preservation of the forest. Wonderful.

MauritiusExceptional, unique resort! You fall asleep on the music of the jungle, see fire flies at night and wake up on the sound of crickets. We absolutely loved this place! The food was great and the tours they recommended us were great! Thanks you to the Wanakest crew, we had a memorable stay!

GermanyJust be aware that due to the open character of the rooms you will experience noises and light from adjoining rooms. Also, if driving there yourself, make sure to get all the right turns or it gets really off-road ^^
We came across Wanakaset accidentally and fitted it into our already tight schedule, so we could only stay for one night, which is a shame. We would have liked to stay at least one more night to see more of the estate, especially as we had the “Apple room”, which is the big room at the front side of the building with the best view. We very much enjoyed this unusual accommodation, the fantastic views and the fireflies at night. The bed was the most comfy we had in Sri Lanka and despite our concerns we had no problems with mosquitos. Also we had our own (but not ensuite) bathroom, which we did not expect. Maybe because Wanakaset was not fully booked.

United KingdomThe lack of aircon was completely understandable for the open type of building, but for someone with tendency to sweat very heavily in tropical heat/ humidity it is difficult to keep cool in the afternoon with only fans. The night and morning was fine. A private bathroom was allocated to us but a walk downstairs from the bedroom like you would expect with glamping. This was fine for us. The bedrooms do not have a ceiling so if you have noisy neighbours you will hear, but in fact the nature noises outside are far louder and a joy to hear.
The best parts of this property are sleeping to the massive sound of the jungle insects and birds with the bedroom side completely open. A unique and memorable nature experience with stunning views too above the tree canopy. Such Lovely design of buildings to fit into the forest. Lovely helpful staff members and amazing healthy Sri Lankan food. Great easy walk through the forest down to the river and local small village on their narrow winding lane. We were offered a short boat ride by locals in the river which was very peaceful and beautiful. Banda picked us up on the main road in his jeep as the lane to the property is very tricky and an adventure in itself - not suitable for our taxi. The business bands runs is part of an inspirational community project to protect the forest. We had a very interesting stay.

SpainNothing! Lovely people.
This is a wonderful friendly and relaxed place. An environmental project is funded by our stays. It is amazing that despite the open air glamping room insects are not a problem, we were not too hot - we were comfortable and loved it! There are not en-suite facilities but it is all part of the glamping experience! The food is mindblowingly good and healthy. The staff are very sweet and nothing is too much trouble. They will help you with tuk tuk etc. We visited the prehistoric cave, walked the ricketty bridge and swam in the river. If you want more action activities they are possible nearby. Plenty to do, or relax in your open room and listen to the bird noise!

FranceA real fairy tale in the forest. Wonderful concept, quality materials, extremely comfortable but at the same time in harmony with nature. The rooms are ideal, both in terms of design and comfort. The staff is invisible, mild, helpful and efficient. We had the best wild herb dinner of our month long trip. A wonderful experience for our group of friends

Beautiful property with gorgeous view of the rainforest. We saw a Brown Fish Owl from the comfort of our suite balcony! The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and accomodating. We had difficult requests and last minute changes and they did their utmost to accommodate us.

AustraliaLuxurious, peaceful and beautiful - undoubtedly our favourite stay so far. We loved the design of the ecolodge and it is so well maintained. The staff are so caring and all the meals are delicious. It was easily accessible via public transport, we caught the bus and were met on the main road by Banda who drove us the last few kms. We extended our stay here as we enjoyed so much. Don't miss this stop on your trip!

NetherlandsWhen using Google Maps it was a bit hard to find. They do offer a pick up, but we came with our own tuktuk. I would suggest to put some better signing along the road to get there.
This place is magical. The food is amazing, the staff is super friendly and the sounds of nature are very calming. It was a perfect spot to relax for two days and soak up the surrounding nature. I love how they are restoring and regenerating the forest and turning it into a food forest.

United KingdomAmazing property located deep in the forest. The beds are extremely comfortable with bedrooms on open verandahs so you really feel part of nature. The sights and sounds of the forest are incredible. We saw a troop of playful monkeys on arrival and lots of kingfishers, bats and butterflies. The food is delicious, breakfast and dinner are available. Banda is an inspirational man with a passion for plants and nature and is happy to explain the history and fascinating geography of the area. He organised our white water rafting experience and transport to our next destination. This is a very special place and I highly recommend.

United KingdomEverything was superb.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Kithugala and don't mind paying a little bit more than the typical homestay price then stop searching now and book this place! Banda (the host) was lovely and met us and our children by the bridge where the taxi dropped us off. the property is stunning and the open rooms are amazing. We actually loved the fact that we were disturbed during the night by the sounds of the rainforest (rain and monkeys!). The staff were all lovely (as most Sri Lankans are) and couldn't do enough to help. The food was fantastic made from about 15 locally grown leaves and berries in the rainforest. Very highly recommended - just look at the photo!
