Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesYou can hear everything and the rooms are not as dark as desired at night. If someone coughs, sneezes or makes any noise - everyone can hear it in their room as the walls are thin. Also, depending on the room you’re in the light may be turned on and wake you up in the evening since it goes through some rooms and their windows. There were also a few mosquitos that would come into our room so we had to kill them after being woken up by being eaten alive
Charming rooms and fantastic location with a rooftop terrace.

AustraliaThere was only a limited selection of restaurants nearby. The rooms were small but adequate for a short stay.
It is wonderfully located in a quiet area above the old Medina. The upstairs or downstairs lounge areas provide a quiet place to relax and the view across the bay from the upstairs terrace is beautiful.

United KingdomAmazing place, one minor thing to flag was that our en suite bathroom lights were a bit dim and the (classic) Riad doors blew open in the wind at times.
Beautiful terrace, great location, nice rooms and helpful kind staff. Great location by the Kasbah for exploring the old medina of Tangier whilst also being able to get out to the port/corniche via the Kasbah steps.

AustraliaIt was difficult to find and our taxi dropped us far away. Instructions for a taxi would have been very useful. We left too early to enjoy breakfast.
View’s wonderful, location in the Kazbar extraordinary. Young man on the desk really helpful and great communicator. The restaurant he sent us to was excellent. Early morning taxi driver coming to the door in the dark much appreciated.

United StatesThe exact location was sent to me but my phone wasn’t reading it correctly and was directing me somewhere else. This wasn’t the property’s fault at all but would advise people to make sure they are clear on directions before arriving, at least if taking the ferry. Once I got closer to the hotel my app corrected itself and showed the location correctly but this was after an hour of walking in circles and being told certain streets were closed and then accidentally getting absorbed by a “guide”.
The space was amazing, filled with art, tile work, etc. Ahmed and Haithem were both very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was particularly amazed by the outdoor rooftop spaces and views of Tangier. A great place to relax and soak it all in after our journey.

CanadaIf I had to say something it would be one thing; the facility could have more toiletries available on the bathroom but this is a small detail.
Haitam was the young gentleman at the reception. He called us before we arrived and he was there to check us in. He was very kind and professional. He walked us to our room and was there if we needed anything. He made us a great tea kettle at night and we sat in the terrace which has a wonderful view of the city. The owner is an artist and the facility has paintings everywhere which gives the facility a unique charm.

FinlandAll of the windows that opened up to the lobby, inside the building, could not be shut properly, so we kind of felt like being in the same space as the public area of the hotel. It felt like everyhting we said or did could be heard from the lobby. No tv in the room, WiFi didn't work (except on the roof), no safety box, no fridge, no A/C (just a fan). This hotel is extremely hard to find if you approach from the old town hussle and buzzle. I have never ever been in a place that is such a maze!! A tip I would give to people searching for this hotel is to enter from a harbour side stairs along the city wall, get close to the Kasbah museum and once you get there check a map or ask someone. Otherwise you might end up searching and walking and getting lost for hours!
This unique and authentic place is truly memorable! The young man who greeted us upon arrival was very helpful and thoughtful and spoke surprisingly good english (compared to some other people we met in Tangiers). We had book a Junior suite, which in all quirkyness was an experience! Windows opening up to the lobby, inside the property; shower tucked on the back of a cave-like rock wall... The roof terrace has amazing views over the old town and the harbour and the breakfast we had up there was stunning. We were so amazed by the amount of the food and drinks the young man brought to table that we had to ask, if it really was just for the two of us. "This is the smallest possible moroccon breakfast" he replied. 😁 Even though the hotel seemed to be quite fully booked we didn't really see or meet other guests so it felt private and peaceful.

PortugalWe love natural sunlight however some of the rooms don't have direct natural light in them unfortunately. The good thing about that is that it was very hot outside and ended up restricting the heat from coming in as much so we slept in a good temperature.
All staff was incredibly welcoming and always trying to help with whatever they could. Haytam was an amazing host; he called taxis for us, gave us info, reccommended places and handed us everything we needed for us to have a good stay at the hotel and Tangier in general. There are beautiful and meaningfull works of art at this accommodation, and some worked on by the owner, who is very nice and interesting person as welll! The terrace is the best part... very worth it!

Perfect location in the Kasbah. Clean welcoming and very friendly and warm staff who made us so welcome. We had a suite with private staircase and it was spacious and clean. Views from the terraced of the sea are incredible not to be missed. No breakfast but you are two minutes from the Morocco club that serves delicious breakfast. Staying in this hotel you are close to literally everything. The antique Medina is down the hill as is the more modern Medina. The hotel is very clean and it's a typical Moroccan property in the beautiful and historic Kasbah Kerry Kennedy Author

BelgiumOnly 2 comments I can give was : we didnt like the naked art in the room 😅 and the light sensor was too sensitive, whenever you were near the exit door , the light clicked on . And that was unwillingly too often because the bathroom door and seating area is near the exit of the room.
I loved the authenticity, being in the old Medina and the accomodation was just wonderfull. What an Arabian night ! The view on the balcony was marvelous as well . Our host was super friendly and helpful and the hospitality was just perfect. No more no less . I would definately recommand and go back myself . 10-star review !

the Riad is full of gorgeous artwork and other fine pieces, it’s like discovering a whole magical world behind the bright blue front door. the rooftop is just breathtaking and has to be experienced at dawn, with the calling to prayer in the background… the staff was nothing short of delightful and went out of their way to help in every which way. and the bed is super comfy! thanks for a perfect stay!!!

PhilippinesSuper minor but Some updating up on the rooftop would make it even better. Like old wood of the pergola and rusty items. Having a light/lamps up there would make it more magical too.
Beautiful house filled with great art by the owner himself (who’s an artist). Located in the heart of the kasbah, with the loveliest alleys and corners in Tangier. The highlight is the gorgeous rooftop with one of the best views in Tangier. What’s great is that you can actually lounge (with comfortable cushions, and not just seats). The staff, especially Haitham, were the best. I asked if they can help arrange a surprise birthday dinner for my boyfriend up on the rooftop, and they delivered. The dinner prepared by the housekeeper and Haitham was delicious!

AustraliaThe Junior suite that we booked looked nothing like the images that are shown on Booking.com. We were told that the suite we had booked had been given to another customer. However we were able to negotiate a discount. The furnishings were not like the modern furnishing in the images on Bookings.com. Some lights didn't work properly and the motion sensor light for the stairs was hyper sensitive had the annoying ability to see around corners.
Bab El Fen is conveniently located close to parking so we didn't have to drag our luggage too far through the medina. It is in a quieter part of the town and there were some restaurants close by. Great views from the top floor terrace. Haithan, the young man that was looking after Bab El Fen while we there was very polite and helpful and I can't speak highly enough of him.

United KingdomFantastic location in the Medina, with a breathtaking view from the roof terrace. Haitham ran the place well, showing great care for each individual. It felt very much like being a guest in someone's house. We particularly appreciated being able to store luggage during the final day and to use the roof terrace as we waited for our lift to the airport for an evening flight.
