Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandOnly downside is the shower. As described by previous guests, it's very small and the lack of a separate shower door means it's continually wet. As the shower room also houses the toilet, it's just a bit meh.
Staff and room were very nice and the location was excellent. Really close to Tangier Ville Harbour which is perfect for travellers taking the ferry from Spain. Loved the terrace as well which was very nicely decorated. I was also delighted to find a signed copy of Richard Hamilton's Tangier and can't wait to receive my own copy.

SpainThe room didn't have a window and it was in the ground floor, so it didn't feel so private.
The staff was great even though they weren't around all day. This was my second time here, and it was a great experience both, especially the terrace is beautiful.

ItalyI expected an hostel, but I had a great single room! It might not be the best solution to socialise, but that highly depends on who is at the moment there and the great terrace is for sure a good spot! The staff is extremely kind and helpful

Netherlands- I don't know if it was just my room but the wifi was quite weak - Although the hotel is on a quiet street there's very little sound and light isolation in the rooms themselves, so if other guests are making noise or turn the lights on in the hallway, you will see/hear it, which is a trouble for light sleepers. I would recommend to the hotel that they tint the windows or at least install blackout curtains, and properly sound insulate the room. For light sleepers I recommend bringing earplugs and a sleep mask - The shower doesn't have a door so the bathroom tends to get wet and stays damp, which can be tricky, bring slippers for the bathroom
Really great location in the heart of the Medina but on a quiet alley so you don't hear any street noise. Staff aren't around in the hotel but are very communicative via Whatsapp - Mohamed personally greeted me after my taxi dropped me off and helped carry my bags to my room, and when I told staff about a hot water issue they fixed it very quickly! I also got a lot advice from them about my stay in Tangier via texting on Whatsapp. The service and hospitality from staff is top notch. Can't beat the price too, and the terrace is lovely.

SwitzerlandBeing an old house squeezed between other houses in downtown Tangier there were no windows and no inner patio, therefore no daylight in the room.
The host was welcoming and helpful. She picked me up from Place continental (I'm grateful, because I would never have found it and Google maps is also confused about its location).

ChinaWe have a shared bathroom (toilet and shower in the same room), and it's quite small. Seems there's no hot water for the shower. The sewer in the bathroom has bad smell. A bit cold in the room. The bathroom is located on the rooftop so we need to walk up the stairs to use it. There're some decorations on the rooftop (looks like carpet and hats). It's lovely during the day, but during the night, in darkness, when you walk up the stairs to use the toilet while half sleeping, it might be a bit scary to see it after opening the door on the rooftop: it looks like someone is floating next to the toilet, as shown in the picture below (this might just be personal for me as I'm a timid person)
The staff and owner of the place is very nice and friendly. He was very responsive and warmly replied our questions. They also agreed to let us store our luggage after checking out, which is very kind. It's located at the Medina, walking distance to the attractions and shared taxi station. Cheap price.

SpainSome maintenance issues with the bathroom. The position of the bathroom, up a steep flight of stairs, was very inconvenient in the night. 9ftx9ft Bedroom space limited by the twin beds which were of different heights. Some additional furniture impractical without forfeiting the use of some other item of furniture. The bed sheet wasn't big enough to cover both, so if using both beds, one sleeper would have to manage without cover. No window, so the only natural light came from glass wall blocks above the door.
A private room in the heart of the Medina.

DenmarkThe room in which we were staying has glass towards the hallway - so whenever someone switched the light in the corridor or even in other room at the same floor - it was light also in our room. we could also hear the neighbors from the room next to us.

United StatesI’d recommend the owner get some rubber door stoppers to soften the blows of the door because like many Moroccan houses, the door closes a bit funny. He could also do with adjusting my room doors hinges so you don’t need to pull the door as hard to ensure the lock goes through. Switching out the twin mattresses for a queen would be nice because falling in between them during the night happened for me which was unfortunate. There was a lingering smell that caught my nose a few times. I sprayed the air freshener and that seems to calm it for the night but investigating and eliminating that would be much to the benefit of the residence. The WiFi was spotty for video calling but otherwise good.
I appreciated how welcoming the host was in carrying my bag from Bab Al Marsa to the residence (about a 10 minute walk), giving me lovely recommendations about what to do for my stay, and for keeping such a nice home for me to stay in. His staff was helpful and professional as well. Not many places have toilet tissue available and the complimentary soaps gave the home a real hotel feel which I was very appreciative of. The mini water, heater, and fan showed me that he thinks of his guests and their preferences and I like that. All the outlets work and the room is visually appealing. WiFi was fairly strong except for a few times during the night so I would leave off video calling until he can get that worked on. Good location, good price, good room, and a more conventional shower for those less accustomed to the traditional bathhouse-esque shower. The decor in the living room is quite nice as well.

SpainThe shared bathroom is very small and the water from the shower goes all over the place, even with a foot towel. There is also a strange smell, we think it is from the cleaning products.
A beautiful home built in 1886 with a small number of rooms right in the middle of the Medina. Salah is a good and very flexible host. Bedrooms are cosy and clean have a place to wash the hands and brush the teeth.

PolandThe room is very small and you basically have to jump over to chair to get to bed. Bed can be accessed from one side only as it stands next to the wall. Shower head was broken and in the night there was unpleasant smell from the drains.
