How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Our shower curtain wasn’t very long so the water sprayed out all over, flooding the bathroom floor and there was no wiper/mop to clean up the water so we kept having to use our towels and then hang them to dry.
Nicely decorated, clean and centrally located.

The rooms were a bit damp. No towel hooks in the bathroom.

Hicham as part of the staff made us feel very welcome as he explained everything we needed to know and see. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best on our trip.

The location of the Riad is perfect -- right in the middle of the town. The breakfast was nice: fresh orange juice, eggs, coffee, breads and jams. The wifi was strong and we loved sitting on the roof working on our computers.

On the first day there was no wi-fi connection in the room, I had to wait until the next morning so somebody from the stuff could fix it. It was quite cold in the night. Hairdryer was broken. You could easily hear what is happening outside.
The place is beautiful located in the centre od Medina. You feel really safe. They serve delicious breakfast with really good coffee. Nice terrace. Wi-fi connection is good. Nice and comfortable bed with pillows and extra blanket.

Everything perfect, but just be aware of a special seagull that will try to steal the butter while taking breakfast
Ayoub was very kind, very friendly and did not hesitated to give us many advices for visiting Essaouira. He even gave us the possibility to choose which room to take. The riad was very good, the room well decorated, fast internet connection, and the breakfast on the rooftop was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay there. We also enjoyed playing chess available in the reception

The bathroom needs a serious update Shower and the tub were broken. Even though the room price was affordable there is no excuse for this Hopefully this was the case with our unit only since common areas are pretty nice
Our stay was very good since the staff is beyond amazing. So friendly and kind,sincerely helpful! Haven’t experienced that kind of hospitality in a while.

great location - right in the middle of the old town, steps away from the main attractions, but still quiet at nights. our room was clean and very nicely decorated, good breakfast (juice, coffee, pancakes, omelet, bread with a variety of spreads), but most of all we liked the hospitality of the team - at our check in we were welcomed with the tea and were given a lot of tips about where to go and what to do during our short stay. we felt very comfortable, again thanks to Hicham and the rest of the team. overall great value for money and very much recommended.

the cleanliness of the Riad could have been improved. The bathrooms themselves could be renovated, they come across as being quite old.
The Riad is very central in the old Medina, sometimes too central. Our original room was too noisy being on one of the main shopping streets in the Medina. The staff were very accommodating in changing our room to a quiet section.

Street noise might be disturbing. Take a room to the inner backyard.
Probably the best Riad in Essaouira in that price category. Very sweet owner and great stuff. Thanks for the experience.
