Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent location and amazing views of Tana from the terrace! Great value for money but you get what you pay for: it looks like the hotel hasn't been renovated or refurbished since the 70s.

South AfricaWe complained about a damp smell in our room and in no time the owner had it sorted and we didn’t perceive the smell again during the rest of our stay.
I loved the antique architecture of the hotel and it’s location. It’s near some tourist attractions like the Queens Palace. The staff are so warm, helpful and homely. The owner is always around and so any requests or needs are speedily responded to. The chef is great with the meals and they have a wide range of menu available. I was impressed by the fact that they have a full blown restaurant on site which is known around the city. We enjoyed the meals we ordered. The breakfast is very simple and basic but you can order for additional elements and for as little as an extra cost of 8,000 Ar (€2) you can add eggs, sausages and some other things to the breakfast. We had a very spacious room that had a great rooftop view of the city. We were there this past week July 6-13 2922 and it was in the middle of winter and so we were so grateful for the steady hot water and the fact that downstairs in the restaurant you can have your dinner by the fireplace. They also had so local artists (musicians) around and are arranging to hold regular artistic evenings in the hotel. The high stairs you need to climb in and out of the hotel makes for a good work out. I believe it was built in that way to reserve the historic nature of the architectural design . We were all round satisfied and will be returning in the future.

MadagascarShame that there wasn't any vegetarian food. They did make me a great veggie platter, but for three nights it would have been nice to have a choice. No restaurant on site so dinner was in the room.
Great location - quiet and away from the noise and pollution in the city center, but yet a 5-10 minute taxi ride from wherever you wanted to be. Room was great - large and spacious, and for the room rate you couldn't have got better

United StatesAlthough technically I had several wifi signals in the room, the only reliable signal was in the restaurant (the staff kindly pointed me to the area with the best signal). There was also loud music downstairs, which was also still audible up in my room. This wasn't an issue with headphones in, but is something to consider if you're sensitive to noise. Also, there are a lot of stairs and narrow doorways without any elevator (it's an old building), so if you have mobility concerns I'd look elsewhere.
What an amazing view! (I was given the room with perhaps the best view, third floor terrace.) And the entire room was beautiful—spacious, so many windows, multiple options for sitting and writing/working at. It was a marvelous place to get some work done, very friendly staff, and short walking distance from some tourist attractions and good food and drink places. I'm a vegetarian, so although the restaurant menu didn't have many vegetarian options, the chef took care to prepare dishes specifically for me, and even added extras in honor of my birthday (which occurred while I was there).
