Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandAs all the accomodation on the Sliema waterfront is in a busy area of charter vessels going on day trips and lots of restaurants and bars don't expect it to be quiet. Didn't bother us the noise of people enjoying themselves as we were exhausted after full days of exploring. Just crank up the air con and you will hardly notice the hustle and bustle outside
Fantastic location. Comfortable tidy room even if a little dated. Great views over the Harbour from the balcony room and great to watch the action going on with the hustle and bustle of boats. The night concierge staff member when we arrived late was awesome and gave us great advice on what to do the next morning. The hotel was happy to store our bags until mid afternoon on check out day.

NetherlandsThe elevators were both very narrow, and only have room for 2 people at a time. Because the (cleaning) personnel also use the elevators, it can take some time for the elevator to arrive.
The location was great! Public transport and the ferry to Valletta are directly across the street. Breakfast on the top floor of the hotel was also very nice (various assortment of bread, fruit and cereal).

SloveniaIf you book the cheaper room you can expect a bed that squeks/produces noise. In the bathroom there were some leaks and everytime they cleaned the room there was a weird smell after. Poor anti-noise insulation (can hear the neighbours and the hall).
The location of the hotel was close to all the shops and everything you need. The breakfast was decent, the staff are awesome and very kind. Good ratio between price and quality.

United KingdomBathroom needs a bit of TLC and deep clean, but apart from that, not too much to moan about if you get a good deal and room with balcony and harbour view.
It is all about the balcony and the harbour view. Staff are pleasant and welcoming and location is perfect for everything.

United KingdomThe mattress was uncomfortable. It felt old and tired, no life left in it. I would recommend it needs replacing with a new one. The bath in our room again is old, well worn and not in the greatest condition but does the job! The breakfast was average to poor. Pastries were nice, but the sausage and egg were awful. Scrambled egg was congealed together like rubber and fried eggs were overcooked and crispy. We would stay again but without breakfast.
Pleasant hotel, room was lovely and spacious with great views from the balcony. Staff were very friendly and resolved any issues straight away. Our issues: We noticed an issue with the balcony patio door, one side wasn't closing. The room telephone wasn't working, and the bedside lamp had no light bulb. We reported the issues to reception, and these were looked at straight away and were resolved by the following morning. The room had Aircon and a TV with access to Netflix. There was a fridge, but this wasn't in a stable location!! Safe was present and easy to use. The hotel is in a great location with excellent access to restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. The ferry and bus stops are in easy walking distance. On our last day, we were able to leave our cases at the hotel after we checkout as our flight wasn't until the evening at no extra cost. This was so helpful to us and we could make the most of our last day. Overall, we would be happy to stay again.

New ZealandThey’re bearable but the lifts are old, small and slow (push the buttons twice) and the bathroom is ……… old, small and slow!
This place has good points and not so good points. It suited us. A few days in Malta. Wanted, mainly, to see Valletta. Perfectly situated as it is right next to the ferry terminal and barely 10 minutes across the harbour. Sliema waterfront is very busy and vibrant. “Tourist Central” though. Heaps of restaurants etc. staff were great, room size was good, breakfast room is on the 8th (top) floor - great views, a discount if those staying in the hotel ate at the restaurant ( Greek themed and good) and the hotel is cheaper than many nearby alternatives.

United KingdomSome of the decor was a little tired.
Front oh house staff were very friendly and helpful. On the day of my trip to Sicily I was going to be picked up at 5.10 am. The manager organised a packed breakfast/ lunch for me to take. This was very much appreciated. The breakfast was varied and tasty and the young breakfast crew were efficient and always available. The room was kept very clean and towels changed on request.

LatviaPossibly one of the best locations (unless you want to stay in Valletta itself) with the ferry to Valletta is just across the road and good bus connections as well. A decent 3 star property, and with early booking quite good price/value ratio. This time we had a bit more luggage, so getting an unexpected free upgrade to a larger room was a nice and handy surprise. Their breakfast is quite filling and a good value - worth to consider on days, when you feel happy to get them before 10 am.

We return every year because the location is fantastic and the superior rooms grant a fantastic view on Valletta and on the Sliema Bay. The superior rooms are large and offer a nice balcony.

United KingdomThe 2 lifts were temperamental - sometimes hard to call, could get stuck at last floor served. We used the (excellent) stairs most of the time. Some replacement of cracked tiles in the bathroom would give it an uplift.
Location is very convenient for ferry to Valletta and buses. South-facing balcony has great views of the harbour. Room was very good size. Breakfast offered good choices including cooked, and also gave exceptional views. Staff on reception very helpful.

United KingdomThe staff at the hotel were fabulous and welcoming. When I told them that my girlfriend was celebrating her birthday they arranged for cakes to be put in the room, which was lovely! The view from the balcony overlooking the marina was great and the room itself was spacious and clean and the bed comfortable. The ferry to Valletta is just across the road and it’s easy to walk to places like Balluta Bay. Thank you Sliema Marina Hotel!
