Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandI don't know that the services are worthy of the prices applied (minor things but at some point there was no toilet paper in the restrooms in the pool area, there are not enough beach umbrellas for all the lounging chairs by the pool, basic items such as shampoo and soap were missing from the room). Again, in a different hotel applying different prices, these things wouldn't matter so much but in a place that sells a 'luxury' experience, they're a bit more difficult to accept Then there are the things that are a bit out of the hotel's control but that still impact the overall experience, such as no real beach access, the trash (plastic etc) that washes up on the shore with the tide (there's truly a lot even though the hotel staff tries to collect it)
The hotel was lovely, the room was big and very comfortable, food at the restaurant was overpriced but very tasty. The staff was very friendly

AustraliaThe property was undergoing some repairs and it was obvious there was still more required. Our room had just been completed so it was beautiful. When fully complete it could be good value for money.
The staff were amazing and could not do enough for us.

SwitzerlandNothing against the resort, but the corals are unfortunately mostly dead because of climate change :(. It was still fantastic to see all the incredible marine life we did, and kudos to the resort for hosting the Marine Ecology Research Center there.
Snorkelling, paddle boarding, and kayaking around the resort was incredible. At first, we were mildly disappointed (with humanity, not the resort) because most corals seemed unfortunately dead, but the more we explored, especially during high tide, the more stuff we saw - clownfish (Nemo), Dory fish (Dory), parrot fish, giant parrot fish, giant clams, squids, stingrays, urchins, damsel fish, catfish, and many more we cannot name. We were also very fortunate to see monitor lizards, lots of hornbills, and macaques. The resort has the Marine Ecology Center within it that is trying to boost the growth of corals as well as the local giant clam population, which is fantastic to see. Kayaking in the mangroves during high tide was also excellent. A lot of the food was delicious. And we barely used the infinity pool because we spent most of our time in the sea, but that was nice too. The staff are all very kind!

Canada1. we booked 2 nights there, thought we can go to the other resort on the second day with nice beach, which we did two year ago. but they don’t hav this schedule any more. so we did the hike instead of enjoying the beach, but the hiking trail is a bit short and a bit boring as well. so generally one night is enough to stay in Gayana resort since they cancel the return trip to the other resort in another island. 2. there used to have two restaurant, Chinese restaurant and western restaurant, but they shut down the Chinese restaurant, which I like very much. The food in the western restaurant is just so so and not so many varieties. for the two nights staying, we almost ordered every dish in the menu. the most funny dinner set is the BBQ set, which they just put several single dishes in breakfast and lunch menu together. and it’s more pricy than you order every part of the set. 3. they don’t provide enough water, two small bottles of water a day for each room. you have to pay for extra water.
the location is really great. my second time being here. a lot changes. The room is nice and clean. we booked an ocean villa, where we can do snorkeling from the deck outside the room, the deck is also great with a really nice view. you can lay down to enjoy the gentle breeze while listening to the ocean wave.

IndiaCockroaches crawling around the bathroom and bedroom. Cleaning not done when asked for (after the cockroaches, we saw additional spots that needed cleaning. The staff never came back to clean even after politely asking a second time). There was plastic in the sea, in the water beneath the rooms. Went paddle boarding one day which was basically drifting through plastic - honestly it wasn’t a good experience. You’re forced to pay the full hotel bill upfront before even getting to the island by boat to check into the room, so you’re stuck if anything isn’t up to scratch. When we spoke to the manager during the stay about the cockroaches, we were made to feel like the problem (not that he was sorting it out). The Wi-Fi ran out too. The manager wasn’t around to speak to on the final day which meant we were forced to pay the bill in full for our food, even though we should have received a discount in my opinion. The staff tried their best to make it a nice experience but honestly it was an awful few days. I would not recommend staying here!
