Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomJust be prepared that it might be quite hot in the evening as they only have fans, not Aircon. But to be expected in the jungle :)
Great location situation in the middle of the jungle, really adding to the experience! It was always super easy to get breakfast, lunch and dinner with lots of tasty options, and the staff are all super friendly!

United KingdomThe room had aircon but it didn't work great so was still hot and turned off itself after a few hours.
Lovely honest place. We stayed in one of the huts which had amazing views over the jungle. Brilliant food and fresh lime juice. Staff were so helpful and friendly, organised a taxi for us to the airport. Stayed for one night and would return if in the area - we wish we had stayed for longer.

ItalySince I was looking for jungle experience, I liked everything! Maybe some people can not like ants getting around in the WC and not getting clean sheets or towels everyday but for me it was simply beautiful
If you're looking for real-life jungle experience this place is for you. Don't expect modern lodges, great bathroom and clean sheet every day, instead expect wooden lodges with incredible jungle view when opening the terrace door, bathroom with shower on the outside around geckos and ants, beds with mosquitoes barrier and crazy nature/jungle feeling. Enjoy the meals in the wooden reception/hall with the kindly staff! They also provide free shuttle buses for the Orangutan Rehabilitation center and Rainforest Discovery Center. Wifi only in the reception/hall and remember, everything only cash! We had an amazing experience, we already want to come back here one day. Thank you!

United KingdomNo WiFi in our room so would have to go down to reception, laundry prices were unclear if it was total or per kilo so worked out quite expensive. If you need to get anywhere but Sepilok then maybe make an arrangement with a taxi driver beforehand, otherwise the 50 MYR shuttle is a bit pricey.
Food is well priced and delicious, views are amazing, common areas very nice, room comfortable and clean. Free shuttle to Sepilok available and staff very helpful.

United KingdomWe had an amazing time staying at Paganakan Dii - the accommodation is beautiful with views out over a rainforest valley (including from the shower room which is open-sided!) There’s also a wooden decking with great views if you’re looking to get some sun. The staff at the hostel were extremely helpful, including giving us lifts (RM5 pp)to various places at awkward times, from early in the morning to the late evening, as well as booking us onto local tours. Fauziah in particular was an absolute star going way above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay. We were also really impressed by the food, would highly recommend the Nasi Lemak which was delicious!

United KingdomThe dorm gets super hot as there are just a couple of fans (take a portable one) and it's a bit of a pain that you have to go downstairs and outside for the toilet and shower.
The staff are amazing and can't do enough for you!! The food is super tasty and very reasonably priced and the location is beautiful! They provide a free bus everyday to the sanctuaries. I would also recommend the night walk. A little tip, take cash with you as that is the only way you can pay and I would recommend taking snacks as there is no shop within walking distance (they do offer a service to take you to the ATM and supermarket, but you have to pay for it so you are better off doing this before you get there) also be aware Grab doesn't seem to pick you up from there.

Slovakianothing really, just be aware that it is not luxury jungle lodge stay, if you'd like all of this fancy stuff resort like, it is not, it is simple, quite, clean and very calm place you can meet more backpackers there rather than families with kids and reach retired people :-) Not that easy to get there Grab or Maxim taxi service, but they can arrange on reception for you for a bit higher price but still acceptable
location, calm place, you can look into jungle directly from your balcony, spacious, options they also organize various trips around, simple but very nice, exactly what we like and wanted to.

AustraliaCash only payment was a slight hassle although staff arranged for me to pay taxi driver on my outward journey. Rooms needing some repairs, woke up to insects or animals chewing in the roof on second night. Very basic facilities in room, no hot water jug or drinking water in room.
Beautiful location, surrounded by large trees and farmland. The feeling of living in the forest was sensational, watching the sunset and listening to owls hooting was a big highlight. The sound of the rain falling on the trees around the room was delightful. Quiet location perfect for a relaxing stay. Food was fresh and clean although very basic.

SingaporeThe location and the views over the jungle are incredible. Everywhere there is jungle, and it's truly beautiful. The staff were very accommodating when we asked to move rooms, and the vibe was very positive. Food was great (much better than at other accommodations, which we tried over several days). I recommend this amazing place 100%.

GermanyIt would have been nice to have more options for the breakfast but it was still very good.
The bathroom is pretty simple but you have an awesome view on the forest while showering if you get a room with view on the forest. Same for the view from the small balcony. The shuttle service to the RDC, Sunbear Center and Orang Utan Center is very convenient. The food and the forest view you have from the dining area is great.

SingaporeNot that I didn't like it, but it's quite rustic, for example there isn't a fridge or a kettle in the room, nor WiFi. If you want luxury and full comfort don't choose this ) although beds were comfortable).
The views from our room balcony and from the cafeteria tables. The outdoors bathroom (although you have to accept the bugs that come with it). The food was good (although there isn't a ton of choice for dinner) and staff really nice. It's about 10 min from orangutan reserve and 20 min from Sendakan airport so quite convenient for what we needed.
