Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaShower/bathroom needs better hooks/shelving for soap and shampoo. They should also really have a pamphlet or booklet with activity options/pricing and description because we often were confused about what was included when we booked something
The guesthouse is really lovely and peaceful. The staff are friendly and there are lots of options for activities + a great shuttle service that's included. The room was surprisingly clean and bug free.

ItalyOnly note you need one car or Grab or shuttle to move from. But this is normal considering you are in the rainforest.
Awesome place, if you have to visit Sepilok and want to sleep inside the wildlife this is the right choice! The wood room is suspended on the forest with an amazing view. You also have air conditioning but we suggest you to switch it off and use the fan. Mosquito net very helpful! And make you feel protected.

United KingdomNo shelves or drawers to put anything on or in, in the room. No hanging space, just 3 hooks. Everything ends up on the floor. Same in bathroom, but there is a towel rail. The bathroom outside the first night had an army of ants, but after that was pretty clear, but made us very wary to begin. The balcony to the room has a lovely jungle view but a tiny uncomfortable wooden 'bench' to sit on. Could only last 10 minutes on it. Cash only, no cards.
The property was very clean, the staff and owners are great, cannot do enough for you. Food is pretty good and fair pricing. RM 12-17 a meal. Water refills in reception. 3 free shuttles a day to the orangutans, sunbears and rainforest discovery Centre. RM 5 per person if you call them any other time, very flexible and helpful. Hammocks around to chill in are welcome. Peaceful at night.

FinlandThere was really nothing to complain about.
Most of the places offering accommodation in the area are by the main road. This one is more secluded, and you have the jungle just infront of the terrace. The facilities are rustic, but very clean and comfy. The staff was also amazing; so kind and friendly and always willing to help.

United KingdomSuch a fantastic place to stay - highly recommend! The rooms themselves were lovely and spacious and had good air con and hot water. The small restaurant served delicious food so definitely give that a try. The staff were really helpful too and they also offer a free shuttle bus to the sights in Sepilok - Orangutans or Sunbears or the RDC! They also did our laundry so quickly and it was so cheap. They also have sunbeds and hammocks overlooking the rainforest too! We had a fantastic few days!

United Kingdoma couple of holes in the mosquito net, not really affecting its function though.
One of the best hotels I have stayed in, feel like it is a must stay for every traveller. You stay in wooden lodges so be prepared to find a few critters around your room but mosquito nets are provided. Bathroom is semi-outside so has a great view onto the jungle but still feels private at the same time. staff were absolutely fantastic, very very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and cheap. Free shuttle service into sepilok.

Netherlandssome small things like: They’re dogs walking around the perimeter (this is normal in Borneo atleast for what I’ve seen). they are not harmful or make a lot of noice, but my partner doesn’t like dogs. The water in the shower is cold, also not really uncommon in Borneo. Also, the place is a bit remote. Getting a Maxim/Grab during the evening night is hard. So you might better do your activities during the day and enjoy a good book in the evening.
The place is really nice. You have a lot of hammocks and chairs to chill in, to watch the beautiful surroundings and just to read a book or enjoy the weather and trees. The bed is good, great pillows with a nice in between (not to hard or to soft) bed. Its clean, yes there are insects! But you are on the edge of a part of the jungle so.. The staff is really really really nice, they transport you free to the activities around Sepilok and adjust the pickup place if need be. The food is nice, its basic not going to lie but its nice. Also if you don’t have enough breakfast, you’ll get extra bread if you ask. the mosquito net is handy because of the insects.

United KingdomFree roaming dogs from a neighbouring property were friendly, but could be noisy during the night.
Staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Food was good, not a huge choice, but most guests only stay a few days, so not usually a problem.. Room was very clean, with good quality toiletries provided. The outside bathroom was a quirky feature. Free shuttle service to the main attractions nearby, and reasonably priced excursions further afield were available.

United KingdomThe breakfast is a little basic maybe, and the rooms are a little on the pricey side but well worth it for the scenery. Nothing actually bad to say!
The location is phenomenal, and everyone working there was wonderful! Such a welcoming family and they really help with every query, help you make plans to me get the most out of your visit. Don't be put off by it being a little way out from the main attractions of Sepilok... although the free shuttle is three times a day, they will actually pick you up and drop you anywhere at any time with just a WhatsApp message to arrange. The room was beautiful and you are surrounded by the beautiful nature.

The suits are down-to-earth but very nice and comfortable, and the view is outstanding! Food is very good, cooked fresh and lovely! Position is perfect to reach the urangutans, monkeys and sun bear centre ( the house keeper will provide you a transfer ) The house keeper are very kind, you will feel like home in a while, if you need a transfer, an indication or any help they are always ready and on duty! SingaporeI left my toothbrush in the toilet on the first night and it disappeared in the morning. The staff said it could have been monkeys since one side of the toilet is open to the rainforest. Perhaps staff should remind guests about it or put up a note in the toilet to remind people not to leave their things there.
I loved the homely feeling of the place and the service by the staff was excellent! Front desk, assistants, and the driver - they were all very efficient, helpful and friendly.
