Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaI booked for 2 but at the last minute another friend decided to tag along. The guesthouse didn't have an extra room for us to book, but the receptionist gave us extra towels & blankets for our comfort which I didn't request so I thought that was a good start to our stay. Receptionist & securities were friendly. The room was alright, it gave us a feeling of somewhat being in Bali for a moment which was nice. Quiet place filled with plants smack in the city. Loved it.

MalaysiaHair dropped mixed withn dirt blocking the drain hole in most of the bathrooms. It caused flood during shower in the bathrooms that needed cleaning. I didn't like the narrow bathrooms which were dirty, not clean. I did not like and refused my bed being placed right infront of the toilet/bathroom door, but luckily my request to change bed and room was granted. Lastly, thetr was garbage overflow on/around the bins upstairs and empty bottles everywhere. Not happy with cleanliness standard at this hostel.
It was a peaceful, short stay. Short walk to Komtar, Prangin Mall and local kopitiam with plenty of choices. I liked the excellent location. The staff was friendly and helpful and I feel safe with the night security guard. I definitely appreciated the complimentary filtered water supply at the lounge area, and cozy places to sit in the salon at night. I also liked the complimentary locker, which could be bigger.

ThailandThe wall is so thin , i can hear other talk walk at midnight that wake me up.
It’s a lovely old house located in the town , easy to get food or drink. Can walk to many famous place.but in the picture it shows 3 doors in front of the guesthouse , actually they only have a little 1 door , not look beautiful as the picture by the outside. By the way the room was nice , cute room except the stair , it’s so high to go to the room. The bathroom quite less. I was in a private room with shared bathroom, my room wasn’t that clean , i found some dust at the electrical plug.

United StatesI didn't care for the bathroom, lacking in space, sinks and shower/toilet rooms. Primitive setup with just enough to take care of oneself. The bunk room's bathroom felt a bit like being in a barn with the exterior wall open to the outside atmosphere. To be honest not an inspiring atmosphere. But better than the Dou Houz setup.
The downstairs lounge, dining areas. The front patio/sidewalk sitdown area. The space inside the bunk room.

HungaryMy stay at RopeWalk Guesthouse in Georgetown, Penang was decent overall. The check-in process was smooth, and the location near eateries and shopping areas was convenient. However, the thin walls made it noisy, and the shared bathroom was a bit far from the room. On the positive side, I appreciated that the bathroom was always clean and there was hot water at all times. Suitable for short stays, but nothing exceptional.

UkraineThe beds are squeaky. So is the floor. But that's okay because the building is quite old. Also, on the second night A/C was kinda of broken so it was really hot in the room.
The hostel is located in the centre of Georgetown, close to Kimberley Street Food Night Market. You can get some stuff in the hostel too, for example breakfast or coffee.

HungaryBecause there is no glass on the windows or mosquito net,(there are only wooden panels there with gaps withing - so no noise cancelling) we wasn't able to sleep without earplugs. Sometimes other guests was so loud during the night that even with earplugs it was impossible until 5am. They put a small sign on the wall to stay on lower volume after 10pm but nobody cares. I think the night guard supposed to keep this rule in place. Because of the mosqitoes we also couldn't open the windows - that can be maybe better with rooms on the higher levels.
The biggest advantage of the accommodation was the location and the possibility to book room with private bathroom. For this price there is not many possibility for that. They also had filtered water / hot water, coffee, tea for free. Staff is friendly and helpful. Wifi worked perfectly well even for work calls.

United KingdomThe walls are super thin, so you can hear everything from reception and rooms either side - they are just plaster boards so be careful! Receptionists were very noisy.
We stayed in the twin room - literally just bunk beds, with blankets (very itchy) and a night stand. Bathroom was stairs, along with cold and hot water available 24/7. There was security overnight which was a nice feeling. We kept our shoes in our room as I read reviews about people’s being stolen but we didn’t feel unsafe here. Great location, not far from Little India with the best food!
