Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NamibiaLovely hotel with garden and swimming pool. The reception area is decorated with various antiques. We were greeted by friendly staff. Plus the hotel has an individual approach. Breakfast was prepared for us early as we were leaving on an excursion. The room had a large bathtub, which was nice to soak in after an excursion to Sandwich Harbor. A cozy room, a large bed with bright pillows, for greater luxury the only thing missing was a canopy. The rooms are spacious and very clean, perfectly clean. We were delighted with the soft robes... and access to the garden where we drank coffee in our patio. A large number of channels on TV. We had a very comfortable time at the hotel, but unfortunately we didn’t swim in the pool in two days, we just didn’t have time. We dined in city restaurants. In breakfast we choosing coffee sandwiches and omelette, everything is delicious. N.B. It is better to buy water for drinking or ask at the reception, since there was none at the bar. There was tea, coffee, sugar and milk. We thank the staff, we had a great time and were truly relaxed.

South AfricaWe stayed for 10 nights. Room windows were facing entrance and parking area...very noisy. Other guests showed no consideration for anyone else....was very loud and noisy coming and going. The first two nights, different vehicle alarms went off late into the evening, this at our window. We booked and chose this accommodation purely on the basis that it had an indoor swimming pool....which was dirty and not useful. We could have stayed in Swakopmund for R 500.00 a day cheaper, and it would have been more central for us. We were very disappointed that he pool was not clean and usable... My daughter and wife will not recommend this to anyone. It was a good selling point on Bookings.com, but it was a huge disappointment. Food and the rest of the facilities were as advertised. Manager very helpful and friendly. An aircon in the room would have been very useful. Kind regards, Donald, Charmaine, and Mikayla
Close to the beach area and very safe.

HungaryIts very very nice, gives you the feeling and comfort of home, the staff is helpful and very kind, the food is tasty, the house and the garden is amazing, our delux room had an estonishing bathroom with both shower and a tub, everything made us feel be loved and pampered! Very close just a walk away from the beach side where you can spot and get close to hundreds of flamingos. We loved it, thanks so much!

FinlandWe spent 2 nights in Walvis bay overnighting in lovely Amjicaja guesthouse. We had continental breakfasts including a big variety of choices, what to eat. The stuff let us even cook our own finnish coffee for us. The back yard was big and a lot of bird were seen flying or jumping. Rooms were big and clean, we even got one extra room just for free, because it was not the high season. The manager gave us a good hint, where to have a lunch or a dinner, - what dinners were had in the Anchors

SwitzerlandIt was a little bit cold in the room when I was there in September. Otherwise, this place is perfect.
The host is absolutely fantastic and very welcoming. The house is huge with nice lounges, a beautiful indoor swimming pool and bar, a big garden with fire place and big clean rooms and bathrooms. If you feel cramped in this place, you must live in a palace. They also have a secure parking (you get a remote to open the door) so you don't have to park in the street. The house is in a very good neighbourhood but a bit away from the 'center'. Although I haven't seen a real center in Walvis Bay.
