Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaA couple of very small changes would make the room slightly more comfortable. A hook for hanging towels to dry, and a power point near the shelf near the beds, so your alarm doesn't need to be plugged in overnight on the other side of the room and risk waking neighbours up.
The location and the feel of this hostel are just wonderful - I stayed in three different places during my time in Noumea and this was my favourite. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff who make it feel like home. Great location - unless you want to be near the touristy beaches (which I didn't). It's got a much more local feel in this part of town and I loved it. Merci à toute l'équipe pour un super séjour, trop court!

New ZealandThe location for me did not work. It is right at the top of the city that is good to go to the ferries and other islands but bad if you just want to go to the beach. The taxi service in New Caledonie is the worst that I encountered in any country. Twice I stayed after 8 pm, and I had to get a lift. I waited for more than two hours, called several times and the taxi never came. If you are renting a car, this is the place to stay.
The albergue is excellent. It was really well organized with individual cutlery, cupboard fridge espace. Beautiful view and nice shared areas.

United KingdomLack of atmosphere in the hostel. There were a lot of working people and not many travellers.
Nice views. Helpful staff and very well organised system with your own cutlery and plates. I liked the big walk-in fridge with my own locker. Nice and big locker in my room.

New ZealandNo comfortable place to chill, the chairs were all rigid plastic. Needs a hub where people can comfortably chill and relax and connect and make new friends. This could be in the upstairs TV room perhaps or outside in the under utilised area off the kitchen. Also some sun loungers or bean bags would be nice.
Good kitchen, friendly reception staff, nice view, secure storage in the bedroom and kitchen.

New ZealandWould have been good to have soap/hand wash in the bathrooms.
We stayed here on our last night in Noumea as we had an early start the next morning to get to the airport. Check-in was easy and the staff friendly. There was a chute at reception to put our keys in as we left before reception opened the next day. The room was very basic, but clean, and the fan worked well. It seemed a quiet, relaxed place. The view is amazing and it was very easy to walk down into town.

CanadaCentrally located in Nouméa, keep in mind that it might be a bit noisy (you're on a Southern Pacific island, so it might be because of local birds), otherwise, the staff is lovely and does speak English to a certain amount. Beds and bathrooms were cleaned on a daily basis

One of the best organised hostels, I’ve been to. Wifi-fantastic everywhere Amazing view! (Yes it is on the hill, ufff) Super friendly and effective staff Laundry for 700, you get a detergent as well You get your own key for food locker AND fridge “cage spot”-your own cutlery and plates/cups in the food locker!!! Well done hostel Kitchen is very clean (that depends on people as well) Rooms are very spacious (both dorm/private) They provide you with a key to lock your stuff in a biiig “cage” in the dorm Fans in rooms (no AC needed) Long veranda connecting all the rooms in one floor (with the great view!)

AustraliaIt is located on the top of the stairs, so at night can be a bit tricky. I got a car from the second day, so all good. Probably in the single/double room I'd suggest to add a mirror, it was basic furniture, that is pretty good for an hostel. Nothing major anyway.
Great location close to the old town and close enough to the wharf. Very clean hostel and great staff, in particular Jerome and Angelo, very helpful and nice!

United KingdomBeing told no kitchen options at 10pm one night. This seemed an inconsistency but you did feel they were a little overkill on when things should be quiet given the location wasn't disturbing others and no one was loud. If you don't like a bit of a climb up a hill then not your location, but the venue is worth it in my opinion!
Great location - enjoyed being on the hill with great view over the city and bay in a quiet location. Great kitchen facilities which were well organised so everyone had their own storage space and it was secure and all locks included in price. Information about things to do and knowledgeable staff. Shower and toilets all very clean and room fine for the type of accommodation. Plenty of options to be sociable with fellow guests or go and hide as you wished.
