Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsEverything was great! Nothing to complain about. The only thing I could add is to have a bathroom mat, there were plenty of towels but no mat. The light was kind of going through the window (top of the window no curtains) but I’m an early bird so I didn’t find that much of an issue. The lamp of the stairs was on the whole night, I would prefer it to be switched off if possible. And a bit too much decoration of dead animals on the walls in the breakfast room. Not my thing.
Location close to the ferry point. Nice neighbourhood. The owner was friendly and helpful with tips and info about the city. Breakfast was great! The house is old but everything works great. Bed was comfortable and the room I’ve stayed in (on the attic) was very spacious and had even a small kitchen with fridge. Everything looked like escaped from a Charles Dickens book. There were many objects, it would be nice to know about the story behind them.

NetherlandsSanitary conditions are there in the room, but quite basic, with a toilet in the hall. The house is old and not soundproofed, I could hear my neighbours talk.
The place itself, it truly felt like at home. The location, in a village, yet so surprisingly close by to the old centre of Deventer (with the ferry boat). The room, cosy, old style, yet comfortable. No TV (+++!). The owner, friendly, helpful, reserved at the same time, a perfect combi. The breakfast! B&B in its full sense. Free and easy parking.

United KingdomNothing at all, it was a lovely little find on Booking.com
What a gem of a property - a true hotel of curiosities. When I arrived, I was met by the owner who kindly made me a coffee and told me about the history of Deventer and provided a map, explaining where to go. The room was lovely and beautifully decorated with a balcony overlooking a courtyard garden. There was a separate bathroom allocated for my room, which was a nice touch. The breakfast was simply amazing! The table was beautifully laid and so much choice, from fruit and yoghurt, breads, croissants, hams and cheeses.

NetherlandsRoom was a bit cold, single glass so lots condensation. There was a heater with a plug but nowhere near to plug it in. Didn't like not having our own toilet. We had a shower in the room.
Good location to get into the center of town. Breakfast was very good... there was everything!

United KingdomThis hotel was such a find! It is quite quirky and has a charm all of its own. The host is so welcoming and extremely knowledgable about the history of the area and the town. He gave us a little talk on arrival so when we headed off into Deventer we knew where we were going and what we wanted to see. Our room was very clean, cosy and stylish and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had French windows in our room and there was a big thunderstorm so it all added to the ambiance. The entire house is filled with an eclectic collection of vintage/ antique curios and was very interesting. The host also lays the most impressive breakfast table you could imagine with lead crystal glinting in the candlelight. It was quite a sight!

LuxembourgAs mentioned above. Since it is an old charming house, the noise cancellation is rather bad in the house. As a light sleeper you might have issues to get your needed rest during the night.
The breakfast is really nice. You will enjoy the breakfast sitting with the other guests on a big round table. You will find everything you need at this big breakfast table. The room was really nice. You can tell that the owners are putting lots of passion and love into this B&B. The only down sider is that it is an old building means the sound isolation is bad and you hear all the other guests coming back home. As a ligh sleeper that is not optimal. Location is amazing. 3 min by foot to the fairy that brings you the lovely city center of Deventer. You could walk as well around over the bridge but that would take you up to 20-30 min to the city center.

Friendly owner, astonishing interior, good breakfast, clean room, good bed and a lot of space under the shower. The location is great because it is easy to cross the river by ferry. It leaves very regular and is only at 5 minutes walking distance from the B&B.
