Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThis time the room was substandard (poor beds, no windows with a view) and the service for drinks we planned with relatives was poor. We told 3 different staff members about our plans but nothing was arranged. It was as if no one felt responsible.
The hotel has a nice location, beautiful garden and in the past we have been happy to return there a couple of times already.

NetherlandsRoom was under roof and thus very hot. No fan in room, window and door opened to a fire escape/stairs. Not sure how accessible for others so did not dare leave door/window open in the night. No hook on door, had to use my shoe to keep it from slamming closed. No hot water in the shower in the morning. If you are not fit keep in my mind that some rooms are not easily accesible, others are.
Rooms are nice and good size. Beds and pillows are good. Lots of closet space for clothes. TV, and desk in room. Everything was clean. Bathroom ok with nice soft towels. Staff is nice and helpfull. Parking you can book with them is close-by (2 min walk). Breakfast really good. Cute inside courtyard with seats. Close to bars and restaurants and supermarkets. Public transport also close, couple minutes walking.

NetherlandsMaybe just being a little bit picky since as a single room it does not matter much, but I didn't like that bedroom has a glass window to inside the toilet.
Very close to city center and staff very friendly. The room is also silent.

SpainEntrance looks and smells filthy, stairs were not vacuumed, windows were dirty, room was dusty. Showering in a whirlpool, no hot water, just 38 degrees. They should clean, paint, fix and it would be better.
Staff was friendly, location was good

NetherlandsWith the excuse of being sustainable and not cleaning the towels (which I am all for it), they literally don't clean your room at all: they do not empty your trash can, clean the bathroom, make the bed, etc. That has nothing to do with saving the planet and given that you are paying a fair amount for any room, I believe a minimun service should be part of the stay.
The room they gave me had a lot of issues (no lighting in the bathroom, for instance) and they were kind enough to give me another one which clearly was of a better level.

United KingdomNoise insulation far below expectation. Revellers’ noise from streets below made it difficult to sleep. This is the only reason for a downgrade. Would recommend the hotel in any other way but the primary purpose of our booking was to have a good place to sleep and sleep we found hard to get.
Lovely staff and perfect location - we wanted to stay central. Good breakfast, too. Lovely roof terrace to sit in the sun.

United KingdomThe whole place pretends to be luxurious, but it is very worn-down. Old stained carpets, mould on the walls in the bathroom. Staff was not very friendly at check-in, crappy view (mainly lack thereof) from our room- another building 2 m from our window. The minibar items very expensive( 3.50 euros a can of Coke), but there is a Jumbo 15 m from the hotel.
Great central location in Groningen, liked the jacuzzi. WIFI was good.

VietnamLittle things didn't add up. Wine available in the room to buy (minibar) but no glasses. Notice in room that hotel is "green", environmentally conscious, but offering only flimsy plastic cups in bathroom. Pillows are comfortable but only like 40cm big, so you have to move them with you when turning. Cupboard didn't stay closed, one lamp and electric plug out of order. If you are a smoker, be aware that they don't allow you to smoke on their large outdoor courtyard. I did not like having to stand in the street next to trash cans to have a smoke.
Breakfast was great and so was the staff. Comfortable bedding

NetherlandsThe suite didn't have any table to sit down and work at -- not comfy as I had some work to do. Lots of furniture in the room, but most of it was pretty useless. Parking your car will cost you a fortune.
A classic hotel in Groningen, with rococo rooms with exuberant decoration (if you book a suite) and lots of beautiful details everywhere. All this in a magnificent old building. The jacuzzi in the suite was extremely nice. Wonderfully located in the center of Groningen.
