How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

the room was cold and the heating didn’t function. also there was just one hairdryer in the reception. in my opinion the double rooms should have hairdryer

It would be a better value if breakfast was included.
This was my second stay at a Stayokay. It's not really a hostel but more of a budget hotel with some very nice amenities, such as a bar and restaurant. I stayed in a private room, which was clean and neat with a lovely view of the river. There is a large common area that was usually filled with families with children playing games. There was also a TV available for watching football. Breakfast was good with a variety of food available. The hostel is in a lovely location, next to the river and directly across the street from a park. It was a short 10 or 15 minute walk to the city center. I came to Maastricht by public transportation, and it was about a 15 minute walk from the nearest bus stop or 20 minutes from the station. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

Phonic isolation could be a bit better.
Location was excellent on the river bank and 10-15 min away from the city center by foot. The room had a magnificent view of the river. Very friendly and helpful staff, breakfast (9€ per person), parking place a couple of meters away (10€/day) with the possibility to charge electric vehicles.

The family room was very spacious and comfortable. The hostel is a short walk through a park to the centre, located in a quiet area between the park and the river. The atmosphere inside was very pleasant and friendly.

The rooms are quite basic and no access to a towel without paying is a bit disappointing these days
Great communal lounge area and riverside bar, with good facilities for work and leisure. The hostel is also within short walking distance of the city centre

We thought that we would be able to use a shared kitchen /hostel style. We were disappointed that we couldn't take our own food and drink out to the deck. Please make this clear on your website.
Staff were friendly, room location was good with river view but small. Breakfast was great value with wide variety of choices.

Nothing particularly. Palking place 1 was full, but 3 wąs available. We moved the car to parking 1 in the evening.
Good beds and sheets/pillows, clean room with practical solutions for cell phones. Good shower too. Nicely located at the Maas, and walking distance from the centre.

Wifi was sometimes low signal. You have to put the bedsheets yourself. There is no free towels or shower gel.
The terrace is beautiful. Lounge area is spatious and comfortable. Location is perfect.

The bikes you can rent from them are horrible.
Excellent staff. Great entrance with fussball and water tap. Great terrace right on the Meuse. Parking in close proximity (max 10 euros per day)

Improving recycling system - still seeing so many guests just put recyclables into landfill bins. Also, improving air flow or installing air freshener in rooms - when someone goes to the toilet, it can stink up the entire room and it’s quite unpleasant.
Great location, helpful friendly staff, good breakfasts and dinners. Bed was very comfortable.
