Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCoffee at breakfast was weak.
Location was a 20/ 30 min walk along the waterfront to centre but also on bus route. Beautiful garden and whole place had a nice vibe, good decor etc., Breakfast was good apart from coffee! Would highly recommend restaurant but more vegetarian options would be welcome on menu.

NetherlandsWe actually liked everything
It was our second time at Villa Augustus - so we knew what to expect. Last time we stayed on the water (the hotel also has some rooms on a boat on the water), but this time we decided to stay in the water tower. Lovely rooms, superb views over the garden, comfortable beds, and cozy interior. The restaurant and staff are amazing. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. All were yummy!!

NetherlandsI fell in love with Villa Augustus the moment I saw it and spending the night in the penthouse/lighthouse has been my dream since. I loved the paintings on the walls, the quirky design of every floor and room, the merchandise and the market, the plants and the greenhouses. All in all it was absolutely magical and I am coming back for sure.

SwedenThe space of the room itself and the desk and chair in the room were not comfortable to do any work. Also there were spiders in the room.
The restaurant and breakfast but they aren't included in the price so that doesn't add much to the hotel itself.

Very nice atmosphere.

FranceEverything just seemed a little bit average...rooms a little outdated, very basic amenities and comfort, reception a little bit lame, feels like a youth hostel. Staff overall just seems quite young and junior. Bed was uncomfortable. Rooms could be a little pricier for a far better experience... from the quality of the towels and bedding (hair conditioner or a little more than 10 grams of soap would be nice...) I'm not sure what the target clientele is for this hotel - it's not business oriented, definitely not romantic... I guess just for young casual travellers? Somehow feels like an upgraded youth hostel, maybe it is and I missed something.
Room was spacious and had a little balcony. Small-ish hotel which is nice, good to have easy on-site parking (though not easy to find at night). Hotels are seriously lacking in the area of Dordrecht so I was very happy to have a hotel like this here without having to stay in a chain or in Rotterdam. Nice grounds, pleasant place. Restaurant also has a nice atmosphere in the evening. Too big and bright for breakfast, though the buffet was very well presented/impressive! A shame there was no fresh fruit available besides a few very sour clementines!

GermanyThe room door is made of thin wood and you can hear every noise from the hallway. The cleaning staff is active early in the morning and you are woken up rudely.
The room (24, ground floor) and bathroom were big. On the surface it is shabby chic but on closer inspection pieces of furniture and the bathroom are worn out. The decoration is out of the ordinary which is fine. The bed is large but the mattress is hard. It's great that you can go straight out from the room into the garden/terrace and have a table and chair at your disposal. The garden is awsome and invites you for a walk. I appreciate the many towels that are provided, otherwise there is only shower gel and soap. Wifi free of charge.

United KingdomWhen we arrived we couldn't get a seat in the restaurant and the staff said they were too busy to serve us, even for just drinks. After a long drive we found it dissappointing that we couldn't relax on our arrival. However we did find a very pleasant cafe/bar nearby. Breakfast for 17.5 Euro was very overpriced.
Room was quirky with a great view over the gardens and there was great service from the reception staff. The gardens were fabulous and had plenty of places where we could have sat and had a peaceful drink (if only we could get one). It was a short walk to the city centre giving more choice of cafes, restaurants and things to do and see.
