The high tech system for operating the lights was baffling until we got used to it.

Breakfast on Saturday was very bussy, and had to walk long distance to reach the buffet.

I liked everything

Really fantastic hotel right in the middle of where you want to be in Trondheim. The staff was simply amazing and quick to help when we had requests. We were always greeted by the concierge and receptionists when we passed by. I asked late in the evening if they could wash some of my clothes and have them ready for when we were to leave the next day, which was no problem. The food at the hotel is really good. We really loved the breakfast! The afternoon tea was really cool! The spa was also incredible. I can not recommend this hotel enough!

While the hotel was physically great, during the course of the night, the full-automation system that operates the rooms failed, miserably. The room is "controlled" digitally on a tablet mounted to the wall. This is everything from the lights to the heating and cooling. Somehow this system went haywire on our night in the hotel, and all the lights came on around 1am in the entire room for the entire night. There was no way to shut them off, and multiple calls to the front desk resulted in us simply being told that nothing could be done as they tried to reset the whole hotel. And there was no way to control the temperature of the room. We resorted to unscrewing the lightbulbs in the sockets to get some lights off, and had to tuck blankets into the ceiling trim to block light in other areas where we couldn't unscrew the lightbulbs. Getting our 8-year old child any sleep was extremely difficult, not to mention our own complete lack of sleep. In the morning, we expected at least an apology from the staff but they acted as if nothing had happened, and we were even told that the breakfast coffee would make up for all the lights being on all night long in the room. Extremely disappointing as we were very much looking forward to the hotel. Would not recommend staying here until they ditch the full-automation digital tablet control which is ridiculous. Simple light switches have literally worked for centuries.

The location was great, and the breakfast was very good. The rooms were beautifully appointed and the hotel itself is beautiful. The staff when we checked in was very helpful.

Staff could be more welcoming and accommodating to requests but it seems that’s the Norwegian way. Not the value for money expected.

Lovely hotel inside and out. Dining is amazing from breakfast through to dinner and room service.

Despite the high rating of the stay, the hotel were not up to our expectations for two reasons; 1) the common facilities were basically not available to us (the closest we got was 3 - 4 weeks of waiting list to one of the restaurants. Eventually we had to cancel to secure something else decent) 2) the view from the room were possibly the ugliest I have seen (room 1044)
