Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandJust 1 star reduction as the hotel is actually huge! I didn't expect that. So obviously the spa area is actually rather packed, and the standard rooms don't have any view at all.
It is obviously a premium class hotel, so you expect great service, comfortable rooms, and a beautiful spa area. And Britannia certainly offers all of it. The breakfast buffet is also exceptional!

NetherlandsWhat an experience at this 5 star hotel. The reception was great, valet parking, easy check in. The hotel itself looks great, the rooms where super classy and clean. Amazing bathroom and best bed I have slept in a while. The spa is like a roman bathhouse. The breakfast is incredible and the staff is well trained. We felt Royal during our stay.

BelgiumThere were a few minor issues: when booking always specify that you want a street facing room, otherwise you will be looking at an unimpressive internal courtyard and you will be looking at it through small windows. I was staying in a superior 1897 room which had very (and I mean very) limited closet space. It had space for maybe 5-6 items. The toilet paper and the tissues felt a little bit of a cheap quality, this would be such an easy upgrade and would better fit with the whole experience.
The hotel is in a great location, with many sights, restaurants, bars and shops close-by. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The beds are comfortable, the mattresses are of medium hardness. The bathroom is spacious, the shower has great water pressure. The hotel has 3 onsite restaurants, I tried the brasserie which was good but there are also a number of other good restaurants within walking distance to the hotel. Don't miss the hotel spa, which has 5 different types of saunas a decent pool and a seawater hot tub, not too mention the great treatments, cosmetic products etc. Breakfast is amazing as well.

United KingdomI'm saying this tongue in cheek - I wanted to purchase the pillows but it wasn't possible. I'd urge the hotel to rethink this, particularly with international visitors who're unable to get them shipped outside of Norway.
If you're seeking a little spot of luxury then you'll find it here! From the staff to the shower and everything in between is superb! I can't recommend highly enough. Plus, the bed, pillows and duvet were like how I imagine sleeping on clouds - incredible.

DenmarkMy main gripe is with the bed. It is a Hästens bed, but neither me nor my wife found it very comfortable. In my personal opinion it was too soft, but this is subjective. The room (Deluxe 1897 Double Room) felt considerably smaller than we expected and we could have used more storage. For example there are no hooks for the large winter coats we both had. Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss with items sometimes not replenished (body lotion, tea bags, liquorice, slippers). We ate only once at the Brasserie, where the Oysters Rockefeller were a total miss, the turbot was nice, the wines were average and the so-called petit fours, was three chocolates that in other places would come free with coffee, but for which the restaurant charged nearly 10 euro. The New Year's Eve ball was a mixed event, while the food was great the entertainment seemed tailored to the taste of locals aged 70+ which was really a shame.
The Britannia is a very nice hotel with excellent customer service and amenities. The Britannia bar is top notch with great cocktails, the steakhouse Jonathan Grill serves excellent steaks. The spa is very good, and so are the massage options. The gym is fully equipped. We loved the elevators which you never have to wait for; the best I have ever experienced. The much lauded breakfast is nice but not of better quality nor wider variety compared to many less expensive hotels in other places around the world.

PortugalParking valet not helpful. I had to park the car a little bit too far in front of the hotel (may be 10 meters) and I had myself to drive the car around the whole block before the attendant would take care of it. He had to move the car anyway….

United StatesNothing. A aspects of what you would want from a hotel stay were excellent.
The staff was great. We had to completely cancel and reschedule our train to Bergen at the last minute and Florence Echarri took the time to help us get it all arranged. We also had to get a new booking for a hotel in Oslo for one night due to the changes and she found us a lovely room at the Hotel Bristol. Just over the top customer service. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the room was lovely. Bottom line is that the Britannia Hotel was the best hotel of the seven we stayed in during our trip to Norway.
