Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Needed a place to sleep during a 30-hour drive. Grand Hotel did the job quite satisfactory. Laid on a nice breakfast buffet even though there weren't too many guests. Staff were forthcoming and agreeable.

TurkeyI had a nice experience and the hotel was nice. It was historical, clean and the breakfast buffet was well. However, I had dinner on my first day and I had a dish called fish from the fjord. I got food poisoning because of It. Even I would recommend the hotel for everyone, I wouldn't suggest eating dinner there...

SwedenI was flummoxed by the odd juxtaposition of old and new in the bathroom. Clearly visible were the patched-up holes where an old curtain-rail had been replaced by beautiful stylish new glass shower doors, and a singular patch suggests a soap-holder was replaced by a modern soap- and body-wash dispenser. A new faucet neatly matches the towel-hooks to the side. But then the whole affair is illuminated by an old flickering CFL light, with a clearly worn-out ballast judging by the long time it needs to turn on. A hole in the drop-ceiling belies where the curtain-rail was once affixed, yet instead of replacing the ceiling tile, someone simply patched up the hole? Likewise, the new-looking shower faucet is connected to an old, yellowing plastic showerhead, which sadly matches the cheap plastic toilet-seat. Clearly someone had started to renovate the bathroom, to bring it up to date, with great care and precision (and in my opinion, impeccable taste), and then... stopped halfway through? I hope this is simply part of an ongoing renovation; certainly these cheap plastic fixtures feel out of place in an otherwise excellent hotel. Perhaps one other oddity: a small well-crafted cups coffee maker was provided in our room, but no tea-kettle was to be found. When asked, we were instructed to use the coffee-maker for tea-water. I cannot think of a better way to utterly ruin a cup of tea. But to further commend the truly amazing staff, they immediately offered us a small electric kettle instead. Considering this propensity to remedy any issues guests may have, one could equally see this as a further endorsement of an excellent hotel.
The Grand Hotel exudes class and style; from the red carpet as you walk in, to the classic bar and lounge and immaculately dressed staff. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful, and they all very kindly obliged by speaking in perfect English. Our room was fairly well equipped, reasonably sized, and offered a beautiful view over the fjord. The furniture was stylish and evidently chosen by a keen designer, and we found the bed to be large and comfortable. While we chose to dine elsewhere, the hotel restaurant looked very good and offers long opening hours, very useful for travellers like us who arrive well past Norwegian dinner-time. The breakfast selection was somewhat limited, but what was available was very good - I particularly enjoyed the crispy bacon! It was no problem to leave our car parked after we checked out, so we could walk to the nearby gondola which offers breath-taking views from the adjacent mountain. A short walk away one also finds a plethora of restaurants and bars for light evening entertainment.

United StatesAll the rooms faced the parking lot and it was hot out so when i opened the window for the cool night air one could hear all the noise coming from the parking lot - especially from the guests attending the big event at this hotel
The Breakfast was first class and was everything in this hotel. Perfectly located just off the main thoroughfare. The staff was very helpful with sightseeing and eating suggestions. There is a restaurant there but there was a big function going on. This is the best hotel in the Andalsnes area and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The room and bed were very comfortable and bigger than most European hotels.

United StatesWhen I arrived, 2 lady staff are working on something, they did not even say I'll be right with you. I felt ignore, not important, there is no greeting or welcome. I felt not welcome. When they are finished, all she said is yes. I said I have booking for 1 night. No smile or greeting at all. She just took care of the booking and gave us the 2 rooms. The first room is on a 2nd floor and the other room is on the 4th floor. I will not recomment this hotel. Most of the hotels in Norway are welcoming and friendly except Grand Hotel in Andalness.

NetherlandsThe bathroom was very functional but looks a bit outdated. No biggie!
This place has everything one can expect from a good hotel. The reception was more than willing to help us plan our hiking trip and offered good advice regarding the surrounding area. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the restaurant looks beautiful with the huge high-res panorama shot of the Andalsnes area. The hotel itself is on a good location, close to the town centre and offers free parking outside. They also offer free coffee in the lobby for guests. Nice! Would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

United StatesThe room we stayed in was impossibly small. Better suited for a solo traveler. Parking was limited adjacent to the hotel lobby. We ended up parking behind the attached movie theatre and walking through that way to access the hotel which was a nuisance.
Front desk staff were friendly and able to help us with side details, like transportation to the Romsdalseggen hike. Breakfast had a lot of variety and was good. Room was clean and beds were very comfortable. The hotel was a short walk to the center of Andalsnes which was very convenient.
