    Less snow...

Needed a place to sleep during a 30-hour drive. Grand Hotel did the job quite satisfactory. Laid on a nice breakfast buffet even though there weren't too many guests. Staff were forthcoming and agreeable.

Lovely hotel. Great location. Relaxed atmosphere. Excellent breakfast and I ate in the restaurant two evenings and the food was delicious. Staff very friendly. The hotel is adorned with many fascinating, old pictures of the town and local area.

I had a nice experience and the hotel was nice. It was historical, clean and the breakfast buffet was well. However, I had dinner on my first day and I had a dish called fish from the fjord. I got food poisoning because of It. Even I would recommend the hotel for everyone, I wouldn't suggest eating dinner there...

    A classic grand hotel!

I was flummoxed by the odd juxtaposition of old and new in the bathroom. Clearly visible were the patched-up holes where an old curtain-rail had been replaced by beautiful stylish new glass shower doors, and a singular patch suggests a soap-holder was replaced by a modern soap- and body-wash dispenser. A new faucet neatly matches the towel-hooks to the side. But then the whole affair is illuminated by an old flickering CFL light, with a clearly worn-out ballast judging by the long time it needs to turn on. A hole in the drop-ceiling belies where the curtain-rail was once affixed, yet instead of replacing the ceiling tile, someone simply patched up the hole? Likewise, the new-looking shower faucet is connected to an old, yellowing plastic showerhead, which sadly matches the cheap plastic toilet-seat. Clearly someone had started to renovate the bathroom, to bring it up to date, with great care and precision (and in my opinion, impeccable taste), and then... stopped halfway through? I hope this is simply part of an ongoing renovation; certainly these cheap plastic fixtures feel out of place in an otherwise excellent hotel. Perhaps one other oddity: a small well-crafted cups coffee maker was provided in our room, but no tea-kettle was to be found. When asked, we were instructed to use the coffee-maker for tea-water. I cannot think of a better way to utterly ruin a cup of tea. But to further commend the truly amazing staff, they immediately offered us a small electric kettle instead. Considering this propensity to remedy any issues guests may have, one could equally see this as a further endorsement of an excellent hotel.

The Grand Hotel exudes class and style; from the red carpet as you walk in, to the classic bar and lounge and immaculately dressed staff. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful, and they all very kindly obliged by speaking in perfect English. Our room was fairly well equipped, reasonably sized, and offered a beautiful view over the fjord. The furniture was stylish and evidently chosen by a keen designer, and we found the bed to be large and comfortable. While we chose to dine elsewhere, the hotel restaurant looked very good and offers long opening hours, very useful for travellers like us who arrive well past Norwegian dinner-time. The breakfast selection was somewhat limited, but what was available was very good - I particularly enjoyed the crispy bacon! It was no problem to leave our car parked after we checked out, so we could walk to the nearby gondola which offers breath-taking views from the adjacent mountain. A short walk away one also finds a plethora of restaurants and bars for light evening entertainment.

The room space was really small. It didn't have enough space for opening two luggages.

The breakfast was various. Even though the hotel was a little old, the room was clean.

in my 1-person room the bathroom was very small, it had a shower cabin that just obstructed any movement.

friendly staff, had a good laugh about the mystery fish of the day. comfortable bed. wifi in my room was functional but it was more responsive downstairs in the lobby. (comfortable couches there). the nespresso machine with capsules in the room was a nice touch.

All the rooms faced the parking lot and it was hot out so when i opened the window for the cool night air one could hear all the noise coming from the parking lot - especially from the guests attending the big event at this hotel

The Breakfast was first class and was everything in this hotel. Perfectly located just off the main thoroughfare. The staff was very helpful with sightseeing and eating suggestions. There is a restaurant there but there was a big function going on. This is the best hotel in the Andalsnes area and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The room and bed were very comfortable and bigger than most European hotels.

When I arrived, 2 lady staff are working on something, they did not even say I'll be right with you. I felt ignore, not important, there is no greeting or welcome. I felt not welcome. When they are finished, all she said is yes. I said I have booking for 1 night. No smile or greeting at all. She just took care of the booking and gave us the 2 rooms. The first room is on a 2nd floor and the other room is on the 4th floor. I will not recomment this hotel. Most of the hotels in Norway are welcoming and friendly except Grand Hotel in Andalness.

The bathroom was very functional but looks a bit outdated. No biggie!

This place has everything one can expect from a good hotel. The reception was more than willing to help us plan our hiking trip and offered good advice regarding the surrounding area. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the restaurant looks beautiful with the huge high-res panorama shot of the Andalsnes area. The hotel itself is on a good location, close to the town centre and offers free parking outside. They also offer free coffee in the lobby for guests. Nice! Would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

carpark size is inadequate for the number of guests, safe and convenient streetparking is available but it's only possible to park for 2h from 0800-1800

Friendly and professional staff, good location a few minutes walk from the town centre, nice views over the fjord, atmospheric dining room with a full size mural/photo of the surrounding fjord scenery running along one side of the wall, great service in the restaurant which stayed open until late (kitchen open until 2200)

The room we stayed in was impossibly small. Better suited for a solo traveler. Parking was limited adjacent to the hotel lobby. We ended up parking behind the attached movie theatre and walking through that way to access the hotel which was a nuisance.

Front desk staff were friendly and able to help us with side details, like transportation to the Romsdalseggen hike. Breakfast had a lot of variety and was good. Room was clean and beds were very comfortable. The hotel was a short walk to the center of Andalsnes which was very convenient.
