Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe location is great if you come by car. The views from the cabin are beautiful. There are well marked walking paths with splendid views you can access in only 15/20 minutes by walk. Then the cabin is very cozy with all the basic equipment.

United StatesThe fact that we couldn’t stay longer!
Just 25 minutes from Geiranger, Hesthaug Gard is a casual place with spectacular views of the Norddalsfjord, the town of Eidsdal and the mountains from its cabins and apartments about 1,500 feet above the fjord. The property has been in the same family for some 600 years ( yep- six centuries)! and there are a number of trailheads beginning about a mile from the property A well-equipped kitchen with stovetop, coffeemaker and microwave made self-catering easy. Proprietors are very friendly and helpful in planning your stay here. The setting and the value makes this place a real gem of a find in the real Norway.

ChinaNone. Just a kindly reminder, if you arrive the gard after 6pm on Saturday, you will find it's quite difficult to access a supermarket because the nearest one closes at 6pm. We had to drive 30 minutes (20km) back to Geiranger town to get some fresh food. Then another 30 minutes back! :((( But it's not hotel's fault.
The Gard is a lovely lodge and the owner ,forgive me, I just forgot his name, is very very hospitable. When we arrived his farm and beautiful gard, he was tidying up the lawn. He welcomed us and led us to the room. I was astonished to see that the bed linens and towels were well prepared, which seemed to be an extra bonus according to original reservation rules. He also offered my daughter a free goat feeding chance. According to the short conversation we had, he was the 13th generation of this beautiful farm and hotel. Frankly speaking,I was quite shocked by his dedication and perseverance to this land. The room No. 1 is like its name , the best one. Actually it's a suite ,a cosy living room with kitchen and refrige, two bedrooms , a shower room and even a cloakroom. How could I imagine more?

SwitzerlandThis place is difficult to get to, because Google Maps directs you to a different road, and it gets really confusing, especially in the dark. Apparently, this is a very well-known issue to the hosts and their neighbors, and they claim that Google shows an old road that has been changed 20 years ago. Come on, this is easy to fix! Google Maps has a way of sending the request to correct the information, and here it would be extremely helpful. There also could be extra signs specifically at the intersection where you are sent the wrong way. The bed is too small for two people and also not really suitable for tall people, if you are tall, you would need to sleep diagonally. In a typical Norwegian fashion, you are supposed to clean the cabin and bring your own bed linen or rent from them for an additional cost. However, the price is a bit too high compared to other cabins where we stayed during this trip in nearby villages and regions.
Private cabin of a decent size Nice secluded location with a great view, really close to Ornesvegen and Geirangerfjord Everything (kitchen, bathroom etc.) is located in the cabin The bed linen is super clean and even ironed (!)

ItalyThe accomodation in the small hut was really comfortable, but of course was simple: the bathroom is located 50 m far away from the hut in the main building, so you should be ready to walk outside. For us was not a problem, but should be considered.
The location, the view on the fiord and the accomodation in the small woody hut was really awesome. I really suggest this structure for a romantic vacation in total contact with the nature. There are several possibilities for hiking in the areas with wonderful panoramas!
