I thought the cabin could do with more kitchen equipment. WIFI was not so good. Very basic but still peaceful and nice. I would go back no problem.

Great little cabin in the forest, very quite and peaceful. Love how the vegetation is taking over the hutt! The basic facilities were good like the shower and toilet block.

We had a wonderful stay in this simple, yet well-equipped and clean cottage. This is what I would call a typical Norwegian experience. The keys can be picked up and returned at the reception even outside the opening hours. Nice surroundings, including a spectacular waterfall (5 min walk) and hiking routes around.

We stayed in the smallest hut, although initially tried to book a bigger one, so please call the owner before you book!

The surroundings are beautiful! There is a waterfall and lakes, as well as forest walks and mountains. The shower is free, with clean toilets. The kitchen is tiny but has essentials. The huts are well-heated. The owner is very helpful (although reception is only open rarely).

Hot Hyttegrend was our best norway experience. We had little cottages, simple but extremely welcoming, and nature around was beautifull. You can fish and take a boat tour on the lake.

The hall light was too dim and the bathroom floor flooded.

Our cabin was spacious, really cosy, warm and very clean. We felt like we were the only people staying in the woods, ie were totally unaware of our neighbours. There was good equipment to cook with. We liked the shuttle service that took us to the start of the fossesteinen. We liked the plants on the roof so we couldn't hear the rain.

No running water in our cabin, but you get what you pay for, and logistically infrastructure-wise it makes sense.

Definitely off the beaten track. If you are looking for a hotel room with private facilities this is not the place for you; this is more of a camping experience in a small cabin where in the middle of the night if it's raining you will consider peeing in a bottle rather than hiking to the shared facilities. There was a stove and refrigerator and electric heater in our cabin but no running water, so cooking and cleanup in residence was sort of stymied. Linens are extra and available in the office but make sure you arrive before the office closes in the evening (office hours 09:30-10:00 and 19:00-21:00) or you will be stuck without sheets and towels unless you are bringing your own. The rented linens were very clean and good quality and reasonably priced. The background sound of the waterfall and the sod roof of the cozy little cabin (with bushes and small trees growing from the roof) was the clincher for us in recognizing that this one night stay was a worthwhile experience we wouldn't forget.

Despite our request to extend our stay for another night (the cottage was available in the evening), it was not done in time and booked by somebody else by the morning.

It was a very nice location. Everything You would like to stay by in Norway is in front of You: mountains, waterfall, rapid river, nice forest... Cottages are a bit old style, but it did not disturb us. We admired the view from the terrace! Distances between cottages are quite good to ensure enough privacy. I would recommend to stay here more than 1 night!

Pictures on website are a little misleading. We booked for 2 and got a small hut with less room than expected. Note: no running water in the hut. We were close enough to the kitchen, so could handle it okay. The manager was quite a contrast to every other host we’d met on this trip, rather cool and distanced. Cleaning supplies or an indication where to find them would have been helpful.

Clean, basic facilities. Small huts have 2 hot plates and a fridge, a bunk bed, and a table with a bench and 2 chairs. Shared bathroom and kitchen were clean enough during our stay. Location is remote and nicely set in the wild. Water in kitchens and showers (free) runs hot.

Beautiful location: next to a marvelious waterfall, special huts with plants growing on the roof, all of this in the middle of a forest and next to a lake.

Immersed in nature, a very atmospheric place. There is a trail nearby that leads to the many waterfalls on the river. I wish you good weather :)
