Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bathroom is more of a wet room and its setup makes it difficult to shower without getting the rest of the bathroom wet. Nonetheless I’d put up with it for the amazing breakfast!
A homey family run hotel which is conveniently located in Balestrand. The owner is extremely kind and friendly and offered great tips on where to eat. While the hotel is a bit run down, there is a shabby chic vibe to the whole place which we didn’t mind at all. The hotel also has great communal areas (kitchen, living room type spaces, laundry facilities, dining room) for guests. But the best part about Kringsja Hotel its amazing breakfast!! We were blown away by the selection and quality! There was ample to choose from - eggs, bacon, many types of bread, lots of cheeses, cold cut meats, fish in tomato sauce, waffles, cereal, fruits, juices, yoghurt drinks, coffee and tea. I definitely recommend staying here!!

NetherlandsThis hotel is quite old and could definitely use some updating. The hallways smelled a bit and the bathrooms were made for small children. There is no separate shower, everything is together in the bathroom. The sink is at about knee height for average to tall individuals.
The staff was pleasant and friendly and gave good recommendations of restaurants in town. The free breakfast was decent and there were also full kitchens for guests to use. The views from the balcony were the best part of staying here! Really lovely view of the fjord. The room was quite clean and had everything we needed. There was ample free parking in a lot by the entrance.

EstoniaThe shower is separated only by curtain no other barrier, leaving most of the floor wet. In addition there was no designated bath mat, just used one of the towels. The hotel is located uphill - just something to consider. The warm foods in the breakfast buffet were not ready at the beginning of service time, relevant if you're catching an early ferry.
The hotel is reasonably priced compared to other similar hotels in Balestrand. The room was spacious and with a great view. The breakfast buffet was not large, but with sufficient selection.

GermanySuperb views of the Fjorde and Mountains . This beautiful village is steeped in history and cultural experiences. The hallways and lobbies are decorated with beautiful local photos taken throughout the year which clearly depicts the change of seasons and the beauty of nature . Certainly well worth staying at the Kringsjå Hotel .

GermanyPerhaps, a second set of pillows would be a nice add-on. This is just a suggestion for a small improvement :)
The reception was just superb, we haven't met such a friendly and welcoming hotel staff members in a while! I found the shabby chic of the hotel really charming, and all the perks (a game room, guest kitchens, entertainment area) made us feel like at home :) The view requires a separate mention, it's just stunning.

BelgiumRestaurants close early in Balestrand, we could not have dinner. (Shared kitchen is available but we did not bring groceries) Bathroom sink and toilet were very low, seems older but was clean.
Great view from balcony (room on third floor). Quiet. Good breakfast. Common areas look older but room has been renovated.

United StatesThe bathroom is extremely small and the sink was literally at knee level. It didn’t impact our short stay, but definitely something to be aware of and/or improve.
One of the best views we’ve ever had! Simply breathtaking. The rooms were a fine size and beds were comfortably. Staff (Magnar) was very friendly and provided great recommendations. Nice common areas for games and lounging.

United StatesWe were looking for a place to stay between Flam and Geiranger. We are happy that we went a little out of our way to visit Balestrand and stay at Kringsjå Hotel. After we missed a ferry and called them, they accommodated a late check in. Our room was a clean and comfortable. It had a great view over Sognefjorden, very iconic. Breakfast was very good. There was plenty of parking. Balestrand made for a really pleasant morning walk.
