Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandIt's disappointing that the hotel's restaurant, which is so highly rated... doesn't really cater well for people who have dietary requirements. Despite inquiring beforehand and discussing this over the phone and being advised that they could cater to our dietary requirements...the food we were served for breakfast was lacking as even though the things we couldn't eat had been omitted from the meals, it hadn't been substituted with anything else, resulting in all the meals feeling incomplete and not really being filling... In my experience, hotels usually offer alternatives, for example tofu in place of eggs etc but we were disappointed and surprised to see that this was not the case at Kamana. We're just vegetarians who also don't eat eggs, not vegan, so we can have milk and cheese, so I can only imagine how much harder it would be for people who are vegan (there's only one item on the breakfast menu that's vegan and it's a smoothie bowl... which is not ideal for Queenstown's generally cold climate, especially in a chillier season like Autumn)... so we weren't really getting much value from the breakfast and only had it one day out of the five days we were there and ended up opting out of the breakfast option. Hence, whilst our stay was lovely, it definitely was marred by the above. However, we do appreciate the staff allowing us to remove the breakfast option and we appreciate the apology from the Restaurant chef regarding the limited options :) I just wish more could have been done beforehand to avoid this experience altogether as hotels I've given even less notice to regarding our dietary requirements have provided us with more options, so I was pretty surprised with just how limited the options were for us :/
Lovely staff :) Lida in particular was absolutely wonderful!!! :D She was super friendly and we loved speaking with her. We adored the Kamana Soak overlooking Lake Wakatipu :) The rooms are modern and the main restaurant overlooks Lake Wakatipu and boasts awesome views. I loved meeting Dirty Frank (a fluffy white cat who loves to hang around outside the hotel :D ). We also really appreciated the note and chocolate for my mums birthday - that was a sweet and thoughtful gesture!! :)

New ZealandIf there was one thing, it would just be the tiny rubbish bin in the room
The food at Nest is really spectacularly made with high quality produce. We enjoyed the Kamana soak as well which was well worth and a peaceful 1 hour. Bed was really comfortable.

AustraliaConstruction site out the front.
Our stay at Kamana was remarkable- the only downside was the construction site out the front of our room, which spoiled the view and was noisy at times. The staff and location were impeccable - a truly memorable venue.

New ZealandThe noise of the heat pumps at night is quite loud. Quieter heat pumps would definitely be our recommendation.
Clean, modern rooms, Friendly and professional staff. Queenstown was easily accessible. Views are amazing. The quality of their kitchen is second to none.

AustraliaRooms are pretty basic for a property of this many stars however bathroom was spacious. Bit of a walk to the town centre which is ok on way down but steep on way back. Hallways to the rooms were also very cramped compared to the openness of the foyer. Lastly there is major construction occurring directly in front of the restaurant (8+ excavators while we were there in May) which I don’t think was mentioned.
Nice property in a decent location. Views of looking straight out were enjoyable and cafe/restaurant were centrally located.

United KingdomOur first night we had 4 power cuts which obviously can’t not be helped, however we had very little communication from the staff as to what was happening.
It was a great location - we were very fortunate to be upgraded to a lake view with the remarkable and it was STUNNING! I would happily pay for that view. The rooms were clean, the bed soft but comfortable. The inclusion of the hot tub looking over the same room view was also great! Staff were extremely friendly. Excellent place to stay!

AustraliaFor such a tech forward hotel, my only suggestion would be to install doorbells for the rooms, it was a little off putting hearing such loud knocking on other guests doors to deliver their breakfasts early in the morning, otherwise it was extremely quiet around the hotel property.
Extremely beautiful and scenic property, great rooms and kind staff. Location is perfect and only a 15 min walk from the centre or a quick bus ride. We loved it and can’t wait to return!

New ZealandMattress. Vegan breakfast needs protein. It’s not good enough just to remove the egg. Most cafes now offer hummus, beans, etc. to compensate for the protein.
The mattress in our room needs turning. It felt like our feet were higher than our head.
