Bright, clean and spacious room. The helpful and welcoming owners picked us up at the ferry and took care of our bags the following day so we were free to explore the island. We loved our time here.

Location was great (walk to anywhere) but the view from our room was spectacular. Managers were lovely, so friendly and helpful. Looking forward to returning for a longer stay

The view was fantastic, out over the bay with a balcony to sit on. Spacious room and bathroom and a huge bath. All perfect and we wished we could have stayed longer.

Lovely owners, really enjoyed our brief stay at The Bay Motel. We did not manage to contact the property for a pick up but somehow they showed up with transport at the pier seems like they do for all customers. It was a cold day and the heater was already on when we got there. Rooms were clean and well equipped. Will be back on my next visit to Stewart Island.

Our host Ted met us at the ferry on arrival (we had pre arranged this) and took us on a short drive to introduce us to Oban. Our studio was spacious with all the facilities needed for our 2 night stay. We arrived late afternoon to an already warm room. Views from the balcony of Half Moon Bay in the late afternoon sun were splendid. Fresh milk was provided and appreciated. The Motel is an easy walk to town and to walking tracks. Ted and Donna were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Ted gave us tips on a shortcut to Golden Bay and pointed us to places to eat. He also took us back to the ferry when it was time to go - then went above and beyond by delivering back to me my charger and cables that I left behind. We wholeheartedly recommend The Bay Motel.

There were some noisy children, but hey, I was one of those many years ago. They were just excited kids. It would have been nicer with an adjustable shower head.

Amazing view from our balcony. The bird life was amazing, the Karak and Tunis that they had been feeding were so quite and so close. Our hosts Donna and Ted could not be anymore helpful! Absolutely perfect couple, friendly and accommodating.

Perhaps an extra powerful extraction fan in the bathroom would be more helpful...it gets very steamy. This is not a complaint, merely some constructive feedback.

the hotel's just a ten-minute walk from the ferry terminal, was incredibly convenient. It made our arrival hassle-free. I must especially commend the warmth and hospitality of the hotel owners. We arrived on the earliest ferry, and they not only sent someone to greet us at the pier but also facilitated our early check-in, sparing us the wait until the official check-in time. The room was impressively clean and even featured a small kitchenette, which proved to be a lifesaver for preparing baby food for my little one. The thoughtful provision of a complimentary baby cot was a pleasant surprise, and the valuable tips and recommendations for exploring the island and dining options were greatly appreciated.
