The early morning traffic as the motel is directly on the main highway. In saying that, the location was still great and if you stay on a main highway, expect noise.

The room as clean and had everything ee needed for our 2 night stay. It was handy to things that we were doing and the added bonus was the onsite restaurant. The food as yum and the portions a good size.

The staff were wonderful and clearly worked well together. My steak was so tender and my husband said the sticky date pudding was the best ever. The bed was enormous and comfortable. It is an older motel but the cost reflects that. It was warm and clean.

A bed side lamp would be great, as the main lighting are very bright.

The beds were excellent, we've stayed in much more expensive hotels with very hard and uncomfortable beds. We will 100% stay here again.

didnt like the fact that we arrived at night because we didnt get to see what lovely surroundings this motor inn has till the next morning.see the caves

Our room was just the right size for us & it was clean & comfortable. As we arrived after 6, the staff had already turned our heater & electric blankets on. the restaurant was only a hop,skip & jump away from our room. When you travel away from home the last thing you want to eat is a take away dinner & the food they served was home cooked. Loved it. Would also like to sincerely apologise to the motel for the delayed payment of our stay.

The driveway is unfortunately a bit rugged and pot-holey, but with the amount of heavy truck traffic this is completely understandable. Being located directly parallel to the main road you get a bit of road noise, particularly from heavy trucks, but not enough to ruin a night of sleep.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and helping us plan our day, as we'd traveled to do the caves experience nearby. The restaurant meals were excellent, great steak and burgers and they were very accommodating for my vegetarian partner. The room itself was a little basic and showing its age, but perfectly comfortable and warm with kitchenette, tv, and private bathroom so the important things were there.

Great location, reception staff was welcoming and the lady who served us at dinner was lovely happy friendly person. Rooms were great size for our 3 groups. Bit unfortunate that 2 rooms together and one further away but ok. Great dinner menu. Thank you. Would recommend to others.

The motel is rundown. Family unit is beneath the restaurant which is closed on weekends. There's a narrow pathway outside the unit that steps down onto the main driveway. I feared one of the kids would fall off the edge, worse in front of a car. There is nowhere for kids to play safely outside unit. The ranch slider had to be kept closed due to rain and traffic noise (even though double glazed, traffic speeding past within 50mts away, you can still hear it). If there was a verandah outside, atleast the door could have stayed slightly open to help circulate air and shoes could be left outside. There are no other windows in unit to open for ventilation. A/c not working properly. Smelly, musty, dusty. Old woolen blankets on beds. No laundry facility. We checked out a day earlier as just not nice. The proprietors wouldn't have known as they didn't really seem to demonstrate any hospitality from the time we arrived. K

Waitomo is a beautiful destination, I liked that the motel was close to destination. The king sized bed and 2 singles were comfortable but squashed into a little unit. I had stayed here a couple of times before, it had always been nice, it's changed.
