Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe place was like an oven when we walked in as the west facing windows were not covered by curtins. Hair dryer was missing. Staff had already left when we arrived at 6:30pm. Parking spaces are limited.
Great view of the lake. The air-conditioning unit was great to cool down the place.

New ZealandThe area is nearby flats with working holidayers, so on the weekend you can hear a bit of noise from the street at night. If you are older or not as fit the walk up the hill from town is a bit much. the only AC is in the living area however they did give us one extra fan.
Well-lit room with balcony in living area, private and didn't have to share with other rooms. Comfy and clean beds as well as recently done bathroom. Our room also was next to a cherry tree that we had freedom to pick and eat the fruit

United KingdomThe room was very hot and we only had a small fan. There was also a strange smell that meant we had to open the window / put the fan on every time we came back to the room.
The room was big enough for the two of us. The bed was very comfy. The shared areas (the living room, kitchen facilities, shower and toilet) were very clean and great to use. The view from our room / living area was beautiful. The staff were lovely.

United StatesThey have some parking but no space for campers, there's a lot of construction around there now.
Very convenient location; Nice deck with views and big room with cooking and refer. Bed was fine; one bathroom and shower was newly remodeled, other two were pretty old. Staff were very helpful. It's a place for those want a quiet place.

New ZealandThe property is in need of a facelift. The bathrooms are tired and lack of A/C in rooms make for a hot night, albeit a pedestal fan is provided.
Conveniently located 5-10 min walk from city centre. For the price, it would be hard to find a place with a private room so close to town. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

AustraliaQueenstown is an expensive place to stay so at this price point Melbourne Lodge is in the budget class. It's looking a little tired in places and could be with an extra TLC but given the price the rooms are more than comfortable and more than acceptable. Being a 5-minute walk to the centre of Queenstown is a big bonus but it's a 10-minute walk back up the hill (QT is not flat). We stay there on 3 separate occasions so that says it all.

SingaporeThere was construction going on near the lodge, do take note to take the alternative route there.
The location was great, walkable distance to the town & the beach. There were alot of variety of food nearby too. The room was very big, but there's some steps involved. Do take note if you have huge luggage.

AustraliaThe toilet/bathroom in the foyer/communal area didn't seem to be cleaned often, toilet paper not renewed etc. when I was there we couldn't drink the Queenstown water (not the place's fault at all) they had the big bottled water for communal drinking but they weren't always replaced when the big bottles were empty.
The location was excellent, I got the little studio type room with a kitchenette etc. Good view and decent bathroom.

AustraliaNot a fan of the sheet metal stored on our balcony but I didn't raise it at the time as our kids were older and it wasn't a hazard. If I'd had younger kids I'd have asked for it to be removed. All else was fantastic though.
Room was very comfortable and staff were great. Location is an easy walk to town (less easy on the way home but that's Queenstown for you), also super convenient for buses around town and surrounding areas.

AustraliaCould hear people and bathroom next door a little too clearly. But we managed (after midnight). Enough cutlery plates cups, spoons etc for 4, as the room is for 4 people would be useful!
Good location. For a family room it was well set out. We were only one night, so worked well for us.

Hong KongThe property design is quite good. Especially the shower room has glass door separated with the toilet. Quite like it, because you don’t have to stand inside the bathtub like most of the places.

Great location. Sort of a hostel vibe with a shared lounge kitchen that worked well. Comfortable bed . We did the shared bath option. Very affordable . Bathrooms need attention though. They do have newer ensuite options which is probably nicer. Overall a great option for a good price

AustraliaRoadworks made it a bit further to walk from the main part of Queenstown, but that's not the hotel's fault.
The budget rooms involve sharing a bathroom, but there were plenty of toilets and showers. The hotel has a very nice guest lounge, with cooking facilities and communal fridges, as well as dining tables, comfortable couches and a balcony with good view of the lake. I also had one night in an ensuite room, which was quite luxurious
