single glazing on windows and bright lights. could do with more table lamps/side lights and lower wattage in bulbs.

Nice and clean, family atmosphere at premises, great location and good price.

While the beds had heating blankets, staying in this hotel with an infant is challenging as the room itself gets cold during the night. Don't expect to have a late dinner either - we arrived at 19:30 and the restaurant already stopped serving food.

Clean and spacious room, but don't expect modern amenities as the building is quite old.

    It is a bit tired.

Great location, friendly and welcoming staff. They kept the kitchen open after hours to ensure we got a meal

As stated in my likes - was what I expected from other reviews and people who had stayed before at - don’t complain about accommodation that is not charging you an arm and a leg for stuff you don’t see with your eyelids closed 😁

It was a nice throwback to 1980s hospitality facilities - and was an experience I will remember fondly. Cheaper than most campsites offer pitches for and it was a very comfortable and quiet sleep. Friendly and welcoming staff - thank you for accommodating my late arrival.

Bed bugs. Disrepair of the accommodations and in particular the bathroom caused us hygiene concerns.

The bar attendant who checked us in was great. Guest services were well equipped, including the room, shared bathroom and shared kitchen. Considering how close in proximity we were to the Gents' and other bedrooms, it wasn't too noisy. Fabulous view from our window.

There was a dining room, but no sink/tap or facility for cooking. No bowls or forks. Just a jug and a toaster and cups.

Available last minute. Felt like an old hotel from the gold mining era in NZ could be amazing with a renovation.

Walls are thin and other guests can be a bit noisy. However I understand it's an old building and overall this wasn't really a problem for us.

Historical building and really has that feel to it with a lot of the original architecture intact and some of the original furnishings and decorations. Despite it's age, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. We liked the atmosphere and it was well maintained for what it is. We thought it was great value and would stay again.

The place is dated, but great for a short stay and extremely good value for money ! The pub downstairs does great food and drink. No kitchen but ample facilities to make your own breakfast. Good wifi and a quick easy check-in.

While it was great value for money to stay at the Gladstone Hotel, the space is very old and may need a bit of spruce up. The floors were very creaky, and the walls are extremely thin, so you need to be very quiet at all times. The beds are too soft, and I think the rooms could definitely have a few hooks, hanger, and at least a mirror. We were in the TWIN room. That said, it was a pleasant stay. :)

It was very clean and at a centralised location. Great value for money. Bath rooms were surprisingly clean :) Staff was friendly and helpful. Feels like you have stepped into a Time Machine and are brought back in time, in a pleasant kind of way. :)

Some have recently complained that the hotel is dirty. It isn't. They must be OCD. It's just an honest old pub with patina. I liked it.

This hotel is a grand old lady. Staying here feels like stepping back in time. We absolutely loved the uniqueness of having a dining room where we could make our cuppa and sit and have breakfast. We also enjoyed the features that remain and being able to ‘see’ the developments that had occurred over time. Combine this with super comfortable beds and linen AND very good prices: we rate this place very highly!

Electrical switches, bed lamps could be an improvement. ( Thin hanging pull cord with no end finger pull to activate room light) Some pictures in some rooms, nothing in No 9.

Being in a hotel was an opportunity to meet people which we did. Met a couple from England of about our own age which we had some laughs with and found out about some of the attractions where we were next going to.
