How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Its no deal breaker but a mini bar in the rooms would be a nice touch and a lot more practical. Im sure a lot of customers after driving long hours would like to head straight to the rooms and unwind with a glass of wine or a couple of beers while they getting ready before their night out etc!
The room and hotel is very clean, modern and the sea view is amazing. The staff are very friendly. The M Social is our preferred stay when we visit Auckland.

The breakfast buffet was quite beautiful but expensive. We don't need giant breakfasts, there are many wonderful, walkable, breakfast spots nearby (there is a great bagel shop just a few blocks away and it is a fraction of the price-"Best Ugly Bagels"- delicious).
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful (every single person we spoke with)! The rooms are very clean and comfortable (although we did not at all understand why the bathroom wall can be moved so that everyone can see you use the toilet... not sure about that design feature?). Parking and getting to the hotel is tough (but that is Auckland traffic, not the hotel's fault). Located in the perfect spot so we had views of the harbor but we were within walking distance of everything! Customer Service was top notch-they wanted to make sure we were enjoying our stay!

location was awesome and my room had a view of the viaduct and wynyard bridge. Could not imagine a better view in the city. The property has been upgraded and while not luxurious, it is very very comfortable. I also highly recommend their bar in the evenings.

The only thing I can think of is that the gym was a bit small. That being said, it had all the workout equipment I could have wanted, locker rooms, and towels ready to go!
Our room was beautiful, well maintained, and modern. We appreciated the views and the lovely shower. The staff was additionally incredibly helpful and accomodating, as we arrived much earlier than our check-in time and they did their best to accomodate us!

Only booking one night. Next time we will stay at least 2 nights.
We took a King Loaded option when booking and got to enjoy a 12th floor view with complimentary wine/cheese board. The breakfast, also included in our package, was one of the largest I have ever seen and meet every corner of a breakfast menu you may have ever seen. The room was quiet and comfortable. The bed was magnificent. The cherry on the top was the parking included in our room package. Well worth checking all the room options.

Only a little thing but bathrooms are very close vicinity, meaning you can hear exactly what your partner is ‘releasing’ 🤣
Everything! Good value with valet car park, complimentary bubbles and cheese plate, breakfast and late checkout! Only $335 for all!

You could hear the plumbing above us
The location was fabulous close to bars, restaurants, Commercial Bay shopping centre. Friendly helpful staff, & great service with the valet parking. Highly recommend.

The hotel itself has good sound insulation between rooms, but being in the city centre, it's unavoidable to hear the loud noises from street racers late at night, which can disrupt rest. The mattresses are not firm enough, which may not be ideal for guests with back discomfort. It would be better if the mattresses were firmer. The hotel's breakfast is Western-style, which may not cater to those needing Chinese food options. Particular members of my travel group have lactose intolerance, intolerance to dairy products, and cold foods, it would have been better if there were more variety in the meal options.
Awesome location. The hotel is situated in a prime location. Right outside is a pedestrian street, also near Queen Street and Commercial Bay which is just a 2-minute walk away, making shopping quite convenient. However, for self-driving tourists, the hotel does not offer free parking. The Downtown Carpark next door charges about 25 NZD for a day's parking, which can add to the cost of the trip.

Bit of noise from people outside so I wore my ear plugs. Husband was fine.
Fab location. Lovely comfortable room. Helpful Reception staff. So good here that we stayed twice on our travels of NZ.

I did need my ear plugs as there was some noise from people outside. But saying that, my husband was fine, the beds were amazing and the location was perfect
