How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Refilling the food was slow but in all fairness, other patrons were taking the whole plates.
We loved the deck & seating atn the front of the cabin. Perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine watching the most amazing sunset.

Continental breakfast was very limited but there are few other options nearby. If you are going on to the Rawene ferry try one of the Rawene cafes for a decent breakfast.
Good stopping off location for a Northland road trip. Comfortable "pub-style" accommodation. Walking distance to local grocery store and Thai restaurant. I had a room with a balcony facing the water - a lovely spot for an afternoon drink.

Cold shower! And I wasn't the only quest who mentioned it. The room, although clean and tidy, definitely needs a spruce up. Cracked hand basin. Looks like a refresh has been attempted to give a shabby chic style but it just looks shabby.
Quick check in. My room overlooked the water and I slept well. The pub was very busy - it was a public holiday - but I didn't hear any noise. I was in Room 15 and this room didn't face the car park or pub. Was impressed there was Sky TV and the heat pump looked like a recent addition to the room. Linen very fresh and clean. Breakfast was continental and the usual choices were available.

Staff were a bit preoccupied at check-in so had to wait. Although the unit was clean and comfortable, it was pretty dated.
Beds were clean and comfortable. Nice seating area outside. Continental breakfast was included which set us up well for the day. The view of the Hokianga was pretty spectacular. Also right next to the takeaways, where the fish n chips are highly recommended.

The only downfall was there wasn’t much utensils in the kitchen as we brought food to cook and there wasn’t any sharp knives, tongs, etc. but I did love that they had a stove top to be able to cook on.
We checked in late and the bar staff were lovely on arrival and provided us with lots of information. I liked that it was a seperate little unit. It had a beautiful view looking out over the water and a little patio outside with chairs. Heaps of space in the room. It was Easter weekend we stayed at the gave us little Easter eggs which I thought was adorable.

The WiFi did not reach to our villa unfortunately :( and the water pressure is quite low. We are fine, we do not mind with it and totally understand, since one of us working in the hotel. It’s just we worry if another guest complains about the water pressure.

I expected a faded hotel room and was amazed by a modern unit, that was small but comfortable. It was brilliant for the cost. We ate at the pub restaurant and the food was good, we did however have trouble finding someone to serve us! All in all a great stay and I would recommend the experience.

Our room was tiny with little room to move and nowhere to put our bags but on the floor. But having the balcony with seats gave us room to sit and enjoy the views.
Opononi is beautiful and this hotel reminds me of staying in places like Fiji. Great views close to the water. Nice breakfast. Restaurant food was good. Nice bathroom. Overall we would stay again.

The hotel needs renovation as it is very old.
The scenery was beautiful! The hotel and restaurant has seen many tourist for many years. The carpets and furniture had stains. However, we still enjoyed the fun atmosphere by the ocean
