Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

New ZealandThe washing machine/dryer were one and in the kitchen and was extremely loud so it was too loud to use. It was great to have Chromecast but the internet kept buffering. It was a great location but you could hear all the public noise all night and then the road cleaning all in the mornings. Our room got serviced really late in the afternoon (after 3.30) and we had wanted to get back to have rest get changed before we went out for dinner and a show, which was a little inconvenient.
The room was lovely and it was great having a kitchen, laundry facilities and chrome cast. The room was well kept.

United KingdomOnly downside was having only one lift, as we were on the 13th floor. I went into 'heart attack mode' when I saw a notice on the lift door that said 'out of order' and went towards the stairs! Luckily the lift repairman took pity on me and took me up before starting the repair and it only took a short time before back in action but it caused us a few stressed minutes.
Having a small but personal flat to ourselves. All good and everything you need.

AustraliaSafety. I was not comfortable going out much after dark. There are people sleeping on the sidewalk right outside the door. But the worst thing was the noise. There is a university in the city so expect partying, but the bars nearby must be like group karaoke themed. Its was so loud a few nights, I barely slept and I tried using a white noise app to drown it out. It went on until about 4am several nights - it was awful. The windows don’t close well enough to seal properly and I think that makes the noise worse.
The location is great if you plan on using public transport. I took ferries, the train and buses and for that it was good. The bed was very comfortable and the layout of the space was nice. Housekeeping did a good job. The little patio is a bonus, but the view isn’t fabulous.
