Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe bed mattress is very firm which I usually do not enjoy, however, I slept very well during my stay.
Small boutique with great attention to detail. The owners are incredibly nice and welcoming. The property is beautiful and well decorated. The friendly dogs were a highlight. I enjoyed the location just outside of the main town center.

Lovely quiet hotel on the edge of Ollantaytambo. Walking distance from the train station for Machu Picchu. Comfortable bed, decent shower, and a fantastic breakfast. Biker friendly! Incredibly generous host let me leave my motorcycle and bags at the hotel for two days while I visited Machu Picchu. Amazing.

AustriaThe friendliness of the staff and the owner was lovely. They organised a taxi and gave us a heater when we needed it. Staying in the whole hotel is like staying in an exhibition. Ollantaytambo is also a wonderful place worth visiting on any trip to Peru.

United StatesGreat find in quiet neighborhood. The rooms, breakfast and owners are wonderful. They let us park our motorcycles here while we went to Machu Picchu. Gladys picked herbs to make us some herbal tea when we weren’t feeling well. They have laundry service. They are helpful when it comes to tours or anything you may need. This is a great find

United KingdomYou could say the location is slightly out of the centre - 10 min walk to the main square however we had a view of the ruins from our window, the guesthouse was v secure and less noisy than more centrally located ones. So no complaints really.
The owner made us feel really welcome without being obtrusive. They offered helpful advice and suggestions when we needed them. Breakfasts were simple but lovely with eggs meat cheese bread and excellent coffee. We were even given a huge flask of hot water each afternoon for unlimited teas (when the owner worked out we were stereotypical tea drinking Brits!) :) it was a nice touch. The guest house is a bit like a museum packed with quirky artefacts and pictures. Feels quite rustic but excellent value for money.

United StatesI liked everything except only having one night to stay there!
Absolutely everything. Karl and Stephanie were the most amazing hosts. This stay is just charming. I only wish we had another night or two to really enjoy the little museum they have created. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating, even packing us a scrumptious breakfast when we had to leave really early in the morning. a 10 out of 10, highly highly recommend this stay

United StatesThe carpet of the room could have been cleaner, and the floors could have used a good sweeping. The location is a goodly distance from the main plaza, which is good for being away from the noise, but not so good to walk along a dusty dirt road to get to town. Being in a mostly residential, rural area, there are not any restaurants, shops or markets in the neighborhood. You don't get an entrance key, so you have to ring the doorbell to be either buzzed in or someone to let you in.
Definitely loved the excellent shower (probably The Best shower in Peru)! The water pressure coming through the shower head was nice and strong; the heat of the hot water was consistently hot throughout the time it took to shower, which is rare in our travels. We liked our room with a private kitchen, which was a very welcomed feature. We liked the very comfortable bed, which made for a great night's rest. Bed linens and the big plush towels were very clean and white. The blankets seemed clean and were warm. The breakfast was really good with tea/good coffee, whole fruits, individually wrapped cheese slices, ham-like meat slices, scrambled eggs, bread, butter packets and jelly-jam packets.
