Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsGreat team to support your needs in Cabanaconde. Ludwig and his team make your stay excellent and worthwhile. They treat you like family and spent time to support you with the activities and hikes. The rooms are clean, food is good and their take away lunches are great for the hikes. It’s the personal touch that makes the difference between great and excellent!

NetherlandsThese guys know what’s the meaning of hospitality. Only being a hostel they offer services many 5-star hotel can be jealous of. The personnel is lovely and treated us so kindly taking the time to understand our requirements, providing lunch packages for our hike and being ready to answer all our questions. Thanks Ludwig for arranging everything to make our stay so pleasant. Other than that you have everything you need, the rooms are perfect, clean, nice beds, great balcony to relax after your hike, lovely food in their restaurant and superb breakfast. And above all, lovely personnel taking care of you like family!! I would recommend this hostel to everyone visiting Colca Canyon.

United KingdomClean, comfortable, well-maintained and a nice breakfast included. The restaurant for dinner is decent with varied options. Fantastic staff with great knowledge on the canyon and available treks, and an up-to-date map included for each guest. The hostel offers bookings of transport and tours in and around the canyon, and we were also able to rent a pair of walking poles for 10 soles a day. The staff were also accommodating with our request to make last-minute changes to our plans and dates after we arrived.

NetherlandsWe really enjoyed our stay at Pachamama. The room was cozy and clean with the best shower we had on our entire trip, and the food was very good. The owners were willing to help us with everything about the hikes, we got a map (without asking for it) and they explained us everything about the hikes.

We loved everything! I highly recommend anyone going to Cabanaconde to stay there. Fabulous food, very comfortable accommodation, hammocks and sofas for relaxing open to the sky. Extremely caring and helpful staff. Brilliant map of the hikes in the canyon, and also local walking. We felt very much at home, well looked after and safe. So much excellent information about the hikes, we were talked through the route. What more can I say! Don't miss staying here!!!!!

LithuaniaThere are nice chill areas on the second floor with hammocks and top floor with sofas and some great mountain view. The staff was so helpful with the stay and the hiking plans: gave a free area map, instructions, answered all the questions. Best place to eat in Cabanaconde downstairs-super convenient. Had the best breakfast in Peru with homemade bread, fresh fruits

NetherlandsStaff was really friendly and helpful in guiding us to the Colca Canyon hotspots, including preparing us for the trips themselves. They really took their time to help us on our way. Even though we made a mistake booking (we booked a double bed instead of a twin), the manager of the hostel helped us out, free of charge, upgrading us to a family room (of three). The dinner was great. The beds were the best we've had so far in Peru. We could leave our luggage there for a day, no problem and in the morning they prepared a really great breakfast, with a packed lunch (ask for the "completo sandwich"). When you leave in the morning there are friendly dogs waiting in front of the hostel that will walked with us for the entire 12k.

NetherlandsWe spent three nights at Pachamama after reading positive reviews on various travel blogs, and our experience was equally positive. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, and the restaurant serves delicious pizzas and the best bread we've had in Peru so far. Upon arrival, the staff engages in conversations about your hiking plans in the area, offering helpful assistance and recommendations. They even provide their own map of the area, which proves to be incredibly useful. However, the highlight of our stay at Pachamama was the staff themselves. We truly appreciated their friendly and informal approach. Leandro, in particular, was extremely helpful, kind, and amusing. Additionally, we must mention the delightful dogs Nano and Camillo, who accompanied us throughout our two-day hike.

NetherlandsDefinitely one of the best hostels ever! The staff was so welcoming, like a family, and provided us with the best advice for hiking the colca canyon. Also they offer additional activities to make the most out of the experience. We went on a morning tour to the cruz del condor before starting our hike, and it was amazing! They also helped with so many good and honest recommendations for continuing our travels. During the hike we were already dreaming about their pizzas and the breakfast for when we got back. And of course, we loved their cute dogs, who even walked with us and were our guides during the hike :)
