Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyLucrecia and her daughter welcomed us warmly, we became part of the family for 24h. If you go to Amantani you should definitely stay at Richar’s. The house is beautiful, very closed to Occosuyo port. The rooms are comfy, colorful and our’s had a super view over the lake. Amantani is an island out of time. Lucrecia cooked for us nicely and Isabel played with us cards during the evening. Wish we could have stayed more days!

United KingdomIt was a little expensive. However, I was happy to pay as the experience was so incredible and the location stunning.
A lovely family atmosphere, I felt safe and comfortable. The views of the lake were beautiful from my room and the room was very comfortable and warm at night.

United KingdomRichar, Lucrezia and Isabella are very lovely people and very generous hosts. Richar told us about the island and showed us around, Lucrezia’s cooking is truly wonderful and Isabella is a very nice girl, who would play cards with us in the evening. The rooms are very clean, there is a hot shower and it’s an easy walk from the port of Amantani. The island itself is so peaceful and tranquil, a perfect rest. At night the stars are magestic with Milky Way visible with naked eye. I would highly recommend staying at Richar’s place to experience the magic of the island in its authenticity. Also, from what I’ve read it is much better for the families who live on the island to book a stay directly with them rather than through an agency.

GermanyRichar and his family are wonderful people and hosts. Lucresia is a great cook; she cooked us the best meals. Richar showed us around and we hiked around the beautiful island of Amantani. It really feels like a family. The rooms were very clean and the shower had hot water. Tea, coffee and drinkable water are provided as well. The house is located in Ocosuyo, you can get there with a motorcycle or enjoy everything by hiking there (best to pack light if possible). We would definitely come back.

Loved it all, had the space to unwind, the rooms are 10/10 with a beautiful lake view but also super cosy. The food cooked by Richard’s wife was perfection, arriving to a beautiful fresh fish lunch with home grown potatoes was nothing short of excellence. I got to explore the village on my own as I needed some time to recover, and in the evening we made a fire after dinner, and danced to local music in local clothes, couldn’t ask for a better night, topped off by a beautiful night sky. Overall 10/10

CanadaI liked it all. Even the fact that there was no wifi! I enjoyed the break!
I absolutely loved ,my stay with Richar, Lucrezia and their daughter Isabel. They made me feel so at home. I loved my very clean room with a spectacular view of the lake from a few windows! Also there is a balcony to hang out and lake/star gaze. IT is incredibly peaceful there. The food was delicious, home made and very healthy. I loved eating with the family. My spanish is not very good but I was able to communicate well with them and Richar taught me some important Quechua words and I learned a lot about their community. Richar also showed me around his garden and he explained what crops he is growing. I met his chickens, guinea pigs and sheep. Their daughter was a fantastic guide and took me to the beach and we walked up Apu Pachamama together which was very special. It was a very memorable experience and I will definitely come back! One thing is that the village is on the other side of the Island from where you come in by boat. I rode on the back of a motorcycle for 20 minutes to get there! It was a thrill and a beautiful way to see more of the island!

ChinaNothing I don don't like. I will definitely recommend to stay at least 2 nights to fully enjoy the stay
the best home I stayed during my trip in Peru Richar and his family are all so so friendly and warm. Richar‘s wife(Lucrecia) is the best. She always smile and she cooks the best food. During my stay, I also get to dress up in local dress and go to the community dancing party, it was so fun! About the room-you will have the most beautiful view, from the window. Don’t miss everyday morning sunrise. (You can literally watching sunrise in bed) And in the night, you can see the stars and Milky Way with naked eyes. the bed is super comfy, I had the best sleep during my trip in Peru. And they also have toilet can flash, even has hot showers! I didn’t expect there will be hot showers. That’s rare in this island. As a female solo traveler, I feel 100% safe here, I don’t even lock my door, not at all. That’s how I feel about the stay.

United KingdomRichar and his family are the sweetest, most beautiful family. I couldn’t recommend going to stay with them more. If you want a real-life home stay with a sweet family and a break from the busy, complicated world, look no further. They made me feel like part of the family and community, dressing me up in local clothing, bringing me along to the birthday celebrations at the local school, showing me around the island and just being generally lovely. (Lucrese also makes the best soup!) The bed is super comfy and warm, they even made me a hot water bottle every night just to make sure I was toasty! I stayed for 2 nights which I highly recommend as it took me a little time to settle in, but once I did I didn’t want to leave! As a solo traveller I felt super comfortable in their home and wish I could have stayed longer.

Very friendly family! The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and we had a beautiful view over the Lake! Lucrecia cooked for us and every meal was delicious (fresh vegetables and potatoes from their own garden!). Isabel (their daughter) was our guide to the Pachatata; from here we had a beautiful view over the Island and Lake Titicaca. The next day we went for a walk with Richar, he showed us another part of the Island. The Island is so beautiful and calming! I really enjoyed my stay with the family!

United StatesI only wish we'd stayed three or four days instead of two since we had to leave at 8 am the morning of the second day due to boat departure time. The ride to Ocosuyo on the moto is a little gripping, but in a fun way :)
Richar and his family are lovely, warm, hospitable, and do not try to sell you anything. You simply spend a day with them in the course of their normal lives. Other homestays on the island shlep you around to do touristy things, though I hear they're fun too sometimes. Ocosuyo is on the quiet side of the island, and it is truly beautiful there. My only regret is not staying longer. The food is delicious and the room is brand new with an incredible view of the lake. Highly recommend.

United StatesThere are no showers available at the property but this is a normal occurrence on the island.
What an amazing experience staying in Richar’s home! He has such a lovely family and it was so nice to get to know about the culture and lifestyle on the island through conversations with them. Our room was very clean, warm and comfortable with a beautiful view on the sunrise in the morning from our bed. The toilets were clean and had hand towels, a luxury in Peru! Lucrecia’s cooking was really good and we enjoyed playing games with their daughter Isabelle in the evening. Isabelle was very sweet and took us up to the starting point of the walk to Pachamama and Pachatata as well as to the welcome dance thrown by the village in evening.

United StatesRichar’s home location is only 10 minutes away from the dock. Since this part of the island doesn’t have any cellular service, it’s very difficult to contact Richar in time including to get his home direction. In deed, his house is very easily to locate where is on the left side of first arch you encounter. There is only one uphill road from the port to the first arch so you won’t miss it. The building next to the arch is unfinished(maybe next year) but you can go in from there. The actual house you stay is the orange one next to it. The room faces the lake with balcony. You wake up with sunrise view without going out. The toilet is clean and flushes. He even provides a bucket in the room so you don’t need to go to restroom in the night. The food his wife made is simple but original. Tour guide said people there don’t eat fish, but she made me trout for lunch. The soup was very delicious. His daughter, Isabela, is adorable. She took me to the party and invited me to dance. Richar’s house is right under the building where the party held, so you only walk 3 minutes to get there. The value and price is unbeatable. I will visit his house again when I come back.

GermanyThe stay with Richard, Lucrecia, and Isabel was lovely. They really made us feel part of their family. The food was one of the best we had in Peru. Richard went hiking and fishing with us and always took care of us. Also, they have a heating in the living room, a hot shower, and a clean bathroom. The view on the Titicaca Lake from the room is awesome. I recommend opening the curtain at 5:30 for the best light before sunrise. The daughter Isabel is so cute and loved to play cards with us. We highly recommend staying with Richard and his family!

SpainThe friendliness of the family, the stunning view, the food.
The family is lovely and the room clean and with a stunning view of the lake. They treated us like family, and we shared the meals (all included in the price of the stay) with them, cooked by Lucrecia with local fresh and organic produce, while Richard told us everything about the life of the community and the secrets of the island. Little Isabel helped us around so we didn’t get lost and we were just 10 minutes away from the port. We will never forget them and the magical island of Amantaní!
