Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

US Virgin IslandsAt the time of our visit only water and coffee was available, but there are many cafes within walking distance so we were content with going off property for breakfast.
From the moment I walked in, I fell in love with this hotel. From the romantic canopy bed and gorgeous rooftop with string lights, a hot tub, and friendly neighborhood cats to the water fountains and live orchids and bromeliads everywhere you look. The aesthetic of Ville Herencia is a sublime blend of historic and modern from its architecture to the artwork covering every wall. The rooms had air conditioning but also the option of windows or opening the doors to the patio. The bed was extremely comfortable. The property felt very secure and was in an amazing location for sightseeing or dinning and dancing. Check in was effortless and the staff let us leave our bags while we explored the city after check out. The hardest part was leaving.

United StatesThe cats are adorable but loud at night!
We booked a King Balcony Room and it was hard to know what to expect from the pictures but the room was PERFECT! We had a lovely bedroom that opened up on to the rooftop terrace but we also had a little living room and even a separate twin bedroom so we could really spread out. The location was great and we could comfortably walk anywhere we wanted to go. The staff were helpful and accommodating when we needed our luggage moved and held so we could do a rainforest tour. We loved it!

United StatesImprove the shower head. Meant to be water saving but much of the water was going directly down the drain vs thru the shower head.
Lovely and quaint in the oldest part of San Juan. Beautiful retreat after exploring the city all day.

United StatesOnly thing was pillows could have been softer, but not a big deal. Was a bit difficult to find as sign is subtle, side street next to El Convento a good clue.
Beautiful historic boutique hotel, great location. Felt very private, tucked away, quiet. Tastefully done with good art, so unique. Rooftop jacuzzi, tubs, flowering plants, a nice oasis. Recommend getting room on second floor with rooftop patio. Staff great.

United StatesI didn't like that the bedroom did not have windows to see out of. They are covered with frosted glass. Also the staff member at the desk upon checkout was not particularly friendly - though the staff member upon check in was very friendly and helpful. Coffee maker in the bedroom would also be very good.
The location and decor of the hotel is lovely, and the rooftop is beautiful.

United StatesRan out of water throughout the hotel for over 24 hours. Plus, toilet seal leaked nasty water in the bathroom. This was a management/customer service issue. Guests should have received, at least, a gallon or more of bottled water for drinking and some light washing instead of being "on their own". Some guests checked out; potential guests went elsewhere.
Front desk Jonathan and Housekeeper Idalia were truly exceptional people. Any need and request was met with a smile, quick action and efficiency. Their friendliness was quite real to us and other guests. The Villa Herencia is an historic building, on a beautiful street, an easy walk to sights, foods, shopping and parks. The hot tub on the upstairs patio was great for relaxation each evening. We will recommend VH to others and hope to visit again.

United StatesWe missed the breakfast which was included before Covid. Coffee was prepared most days but not every day - that was missed. The front desk is spotty - shared with other hotels so often no one there to ask things. Ok for us but if new to old San Juan this could be a bummer.
Love the location and general vibe here. We’ve stayed about 4 times before. Very cozy.

United StatesThe room we stayed in was small and dark. One small window opens up to the courtyard and has wooden louvers.
The hotel is in a great location and has fun design details in the courtyard and interior spaces. The biggest attraction is the roof space with various seating, jacuzzi, and bathtubs.

DenmarkWe were promised a room of 34 square metres with a view of the patio. The room was about 12 sq m with no windows to speak of and a leak in the ceiling producing drops of water. They promised a price reduction for the latter but not for the size of the room.
