Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe night before we left, the person upstairs was either doing extensive packing or 'getting his steps in' for the day... We could not believe how much walking around was going on, moving and dropping things. We were so tired the next day... We didn't complain because everything else was great.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely front entrance and pretty room.

The location. It had really easy transport links but was in a nice and quiet area. Although quiet, there were a lot of shops within walking distance (5-10 minutes usually)

United KingdomThe warm welcome is always important. It makes you feel valued as a customer. We had responses from the hotel on our questions via booking.com and we were really pleased.
We had a great stay. From the warm welcome at the reception, Thomas made us feel at home. We've stayed here before having a good experience and now returned to a revamped hotel. They upgraded the rooms without losing it's charm, making the stay a memorable one.

United KingdomThere was a shortage of places to put your things in the bathroom, a shelf would have been useful and also one in the bedroom. The safe didn’t work so any valuable items had to be locked in our luggage.
Location excellent, the breakfast was very good, beautiful dining area, plenty of choice for breakfast and very clean and nice atmosphere. Fairly quiet room number 4 ground floor at the back. The staff were very friendly.

NetherlandsThere are some other shortcomings that bring down the points. Wifi is terrible, even planning a route on Google Maps was too much to ask for. Or reading the news. (I had my mobile Wifi). The TV has practically no stations in another language than Portuguese and needed a manual to handle, which was not in the room. (I didn’t bother about the TV, I watched the News on my phone with mobile internet – But it would be better not to advertise the presence of Wifi.) The hotel is not very sound proof, but fortunately there weren’t any noisy guests. The door locks are not safe (very simple old fashion keys), but there is a small safe in the closet. The bathroom is a bit cramped, with a very small sink and (even for small me) narrow shower cabin. The complementary slippers compensated for the lack of a bath mat. The first day the water pressure was low, but that changed. The staff had no idea why. The hotel is close to the Rato Metro station and there is a good restaurant on your right hand side when you enter the street. The more bistro-like places on the square are good value too. Would I come back? I think so, although prices go up in season which will influence the price/quality figure. But the place at least has character. And a nice staff.
I prefer these hotels with a local touch of azulejos and draperies to the standard run of the mill type. Even though my room was the left over standard, it was nice to stay in such a place. The staff is excellent and welcoming. Breakfast is a bit ‘good standard’ but sufficient and if you like Portuguese sweet pastry it is ‘quite good’. I would have liked a smaller cup for my espresso. I don’t know whose fault it is but I didn’t include breakfast when booking since it was said to be € 16. But the hotel said it was € 8. I booked the room with SINGLE occupancy. (Actually € 8 is a very fair price for the food). The place is immaculately clean. Maybe even too hygienical: apart from the topper the mattress has an extra sheet under the bed sheet that has a sort of impermeable layer (plastified?). That doesn’t breathe, which I found rather uncomfortable. The room is spacious enough with two chairs and a closet with (o yes!) quite enough clothes hangers.

BelgiumThe downside of these beautiful ancient buildings is the poor noise insulation between rooms and floors.
