N/A In my opinion it was a great hotel and the staff were really phenomenal and polite.

The location. It had really easy transport links but was in a nice and quiet area. Although quiet, there were a lot of shops within walking distance (5-10 minutes usually)

Friendly, helpful service, an ample breakfast in a gorgeous room -- I loved the window tables with a view to the square across the street. And my room was quiet, spacious, a perfect place to take some respite from busy days!

This hotel is a gem. Beautiful entrance with helpful & courteous staff. The furnishings are of high quality & the rooms a good size. Comfy beds, shutters & blinds for good sleep & air conditioning. Breakfast was in an airy bright room with plenty of choice and courteous & helpful staff again.

Quite hard mattresses - in case you prefer softer this might not be the right choice.

Very friendly service, great location, accessible by public transport. Lovely old decor. Overall we liked it very much. Breakfast was nice with different pastry every day and some alternating options for cheese, ham, fruit and juice.

The warm welcome is always important. It makes you feel valued as a customer. We had responses from the hotel on our questions via booking.com and we were really pleased.

We had a great stay. From the warm welcome at the reception, Thomas made us feel at home. We've stayed here before having a good experience and now returned to a revamped hotel. They upgraded the rooms without losing it's charm, making the stay a memorable one.

Some of bathroom fittings had seen better days.

Lovely old-fashioned hotel, full of character, in a great location close to good eateries, book shops, the Botanic Gardens and centre of town.. Liked the decor and refreshing to have key to room rather than a place Great buffet breakfast.

Maybe the lack of small fridge in the room ( to cool down my water for the day but this is a detail.

There was a shortage of places to put your things in the bathroom, a shelf would have been useful and also one in the bedroom. The safe didn’t work so any valuable items had to be locked in our luggage.

Location excellent, the breakfast was very good, beautiful dining area, plenty of choice for breakfast and very clean and nice atmosphere. Fairly quiet room number 4 ground floor at the back. The staff were very friendly.

Very nice hotel with some shortcomings
    • Leisure trip
    • Solo traveller
    • Standard Double or Twin Room
    • Stayed 2 nights

There are some other shortcomings that bring down the points. Wifi is terrible, even planning a route on Google Maps was too much to ask for. Or reading the news. (I had my mobile Wifi). The TV has practically no stations in another language than Portuguese and needed a manual to handle, which was not in the room. (I didn’t bother about the TV, I watched the News on my phone with mobile internet – But it would be better not to advertise the presence of Wifi.) The hotel is not very sound proof, but fortunately there weren’t any noisy guests. The door locks are not safe (very simple old fashion keys), but there is a small safe in the closet. The bathroom is a bit cramped, with a very small sink and (even for small me) narrow shower cabin. The complementary slippers compensated for the lack of a bath mat. The first day the water pressure was low, but that changed. The staff had no idea why. The hotel is close to the Rato Metro station and there is a good restaurant on your right hand side when you enter the street. The more bistro-like places on the square are good value too. Would I come back? I think so, although prices go up in season which will influence the price/quality figure. But the place at least has character. And a nice staff.

I prefer these hotels with a local touch of azulejos and draperies to the standard run of the mill type. Even though my room was the left over standard, it was nice to stay in such a place. The staff is excellent and welcoming. Breakfast is a bit ‘good standard’ but sufficient and if you like Portuguese sweet pastry it is ‘quite good’. I would have liked a smaller cup for my espresso. I don’t know whose fault it is but I didn’t include breakfast when booking since it was said to be € 16. But the hotel said it was € 8. I booked the room with SINGLE occupancy. (Actually € 8 is a very fair price for the food). The place is immaculately clean. Maybe even too hygienical: apart from the topper the mattress has an extra sheet under the bed sheet that has a sort of impermeable layer (plastified?). That doesn’t breathe, which I found rather uncomfortable. The room is spacious enough with two chairs and a closet with (o yes!) quite enough clothes hangers.

The downside of these beautiful ancient buildings is the poor noise insulation between rooms and floors.

The hotel is in a very nice and very well preserved historical building. My room was well decorated and super clean. All the members of staff were very polite, nice and helpful. It is ideally situated to visit Lisbon on foot.

Bathroom fixtures were a little tired. Although convenient for a larger group of guests, I would otherwise avoid the un-notable breakfast.

Excellent location for public transport and the Principe Real district. Tastefully restored building and very helpful staff. Comfy beds! Would recommend for families, and calm grown ups. We really appreciated that the reception is always staffed.

The front desk stood out to us as the best on our whole European trip - they were very helpful, kind and had great english. The breakfast room and food was very nice and not too busy when we were there. The room was well decorated and the bathroom was nice as well. It was close to different metro options and was a great homebase for a short trip in Lisbon.
