Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomGreat location overlooking the square (bit not noisy even late in the evening). Handy to explore this beautiful little city and its wonderful eateries. Well-equipped, well-furnished, clean and comfortable. Easy access. Can't fault it.

United KingdomThe fact there is no en suite is not made clear, we were lucky that our shared bedroom with the room next to us was just for us as that room wasn't booked. The price is expensive for what you are getting.
This hotel has a good location

United StatesWe had a room on the very top floor (3 flights of stairs) with a rather funky balcony, funky chairs. The bathroom (particularly the shower) was not well maintained. The biggest problem was the very loud street noise that went on until 3 am. The windows, when closed, do nothing to mitigate the noise, so we had very little sleep both nights.
The central location was good for exploring. We were able to park the car quite nearby.

RomaniaThe cleaning of the apartment could have been better (we found hair on top of the ceramic plate in the kitchen). The biggest negative point is that there is no place to keep your bags after checkout and they don't offer a real solution (they just said: speak with the cafes on the street but none of them was open on a Sunday at 11 am, so we had to carry our heavy bags everywhere until the time we had to leave).
The location is incredibly central and the apartment is spacious. It offers good value for money.

United KingdomThe bathroom was very poorly laid out which made it difficult to use. Shower was very slippery while in use which was very dangerous. Bathroom floor got wet while using the shower everytime which was also dangerously slippy. Internet was almost useless as connection was dreadful in our room. The door to our room was very difficult to lock and unlock, handle was breaking and had obviously been 'fixed' before. No staff on site at all throughout our stay, we had no face to face contact with anyone, only communication was via email or message. This was odd and very impersonal. One of the air-conditioning units smelled like urine while operating.
Bed was very comfortable, good sized bedrooms and lots of storage. Location was excellent, easy to reach the train station and all of the historic centre. Lots of restaurants and bars immediately outside but we weren't disturbed by noise

United StatesThe worst thing was that the room was heavily (lavender?) scented, almost to the point of making me nauseous. The room was a converted attic and the ceiling was so low in places that I hit my head several times — and I’m only 5’ 9” tall!. The bed was soft and sagged a bit. And the trek up to my room was 67 steps! And finally, even though I was given a WiFi password, during the two days I was there, WiFi worked for only the first few hours. Then unable to connect. At first, I thought this was storm related, but places nearby had WiFi during the storm. The only contact from the owner during my stay was a reminder to pay the $3 city tax. Overall, very disappointed, and cannot recommend this place. NOTE: No parking is provided, and parking is horrendous in this area. If you do find a spot, it is good for only 2 hours, and requires payment.
The room was very clean, and there were ample towels.

United StatesI have travel a lot, and this might’ve been the cutest room I have ever stayed in. I stayed in Avenida da Liberdade on the third floor. It was decorated in such a lovely fashion, and it had everything one needs, including a small kitchen area. And the location! Practically sitting on top of the Se Cathedral. You couldn’t ask for a better location, with lovely restaurants and cafes nearby. Although there was some street noise in the evening, from the third floor it didn’t bother me at all, as it was just a general hum. As mentioned by others, the guesthouse has no elevator, which might be challenging for some to carry luggage up to the upper floors.
