How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There are lots of activities and the staff is awesome. For the winter season there are heaters in the rooms so nobody has to freeze. I also liked that they sell bottled drinks at very affordable prices at reception.

Room was a bit small so just be prepared for that.
One of my favourite hostels I've ever stayed at. The staff were all so so friendly and everyone was super social. There are events and group dinners every night so it is very easy to make friends as a solo traveller. Would definitely stay again!

Great hostel, great staff, great atmosphere, great people!! Would recommend you choose this option in Porto, i stayed somewhere else for a couple nights before but wish i had chosen here. Great free dinners and daytime activities and bar crawls which makes it the perfect place for any solo traveller looking to meet people. Big kitchen so you can cook too - and cheap drinks ;) thanks for the great time. Will be back <3

Nothing. But if I had to be picky, water pressure for the shower was very strong. But that's looking for a fault. Hostel is perfect and this will not impact your stay negatively.
Vibe was great. Despite it being a party hostel, it still was "quiet". I've been to loads of party hostels with music blasting until 4am, this isn't the case here which is a perfect balance. Clubs, bars and restaurants all within walking distance from hostel. I stay in a 4 bed dorm, and the layout was great. 2 beds in 1 side, bathroom in-between and other 2 beds on the other side. Loved it. You have family dinners, and although I didn't partake, food looked good. (Meals are vegan/vegetarian). Great atmosphere, if you have trouble meeting people you are staying here wrong. I would definitely stay here again.

This was my first solo travel and it has become a unique experience mainly because of this hostel and their cool people. My room was one with four beds and had a nice little balcony with a view on the Porto cathedral. Ideal place to meet new people from all over the world. Every day they organise multiple activities you can participate in if you want. There is also cooking every evening by a member of the awesome staff. Special mention to Trevor!

It didn’t feel incredibly clean. However there were daily cleaners. I just feel it could do with a little more maintenance.
This is a perfect hostel for anyone solo travelling and wanting to see the night life in Porto. There are daily organised activities and I took part in most of them as it was a great way to meet the other travellers. All the staff became friends quickly as they were so warm and welcoming. Really lovely people! The family dinners were really cute also.

The windows were dusty and the door and cabinet locks a bit loose and failed to lock

I really enjoyed the hostel! It’s the best hostel in Porto for when you’re solo travelling, you’ll make a lot of friends! Also the staff was very nice and there were free dinners and fun activities every day. I loved staying at hostel One Ribeira!

The people who run the hostel do their best to make you feel at home. There are lots of different and changing activities during the day and the night. The location is in the middle of the city, you can walk everywhere and will have a great time there. If I was to go to Porto again, I'd go there again as well.

One bathroom per room can be annoying when you have to wait for someone to finish their shower, but I only ran into this once.
Great staff and volunteers. Ornella and Luiza really helped me out when there was an issue with a mattress. Loved the daily activities, great way to meet people. The rule of "go out or go to bed" at midnight was fantastic, got to enjoy all the social aspects while getting a good night's sleep every night.
