Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWish they had iron and iron boards in the rooms.
Perfetc location, city centre with access to several restaurants and shops. Not too noisy even though it was in the center. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Breakfast was not included but we had breakfast there in the 1st day. The fhey only serve continental breakfast but it was all very fresh and there was plenty to choose from. The staff was very pleasant and they let us store our luggage on the day we arrived while the rooms were being prepared and on the day we left.

Canada3 points : First under the control of the hotel; to have adequate shower doors to retain the water in the shower. Our experience was a bit messy for every shower we took. Second, if it was not for the construction work going on around the hotel (which is not under the control of the hotel Aliados) , the location would have been exceptional. Third point: this belongs to Booking.com, the Hotel address provided is missing the mention that the entrance is on Rua Elísio de Melo nº 27, this caused confusion for our lift (that was booked through Booking.com transport from Hotel Aliados to the Porto Airport). In addition the driver Tel number provided by Booking.com was a wrong number. I had issues communicating with the driver.
The Staff ,the staff and the staff. I interacted with 3 different persons during my stay and the three were exceptional, they did everything in their capacity to make our stay exceptional.

United KingdomIt's an old hotel, somewhat tired and the rooms are not huge. But don't let that put you off. The positives more than makes up for any negatives. This is a great base for exploring Porto and surrounding areas
The beauty of this hotel is its location. Central to everything. Close to amenities, restaurants, and transport links. Breakfast is simple, but there was plenty of it and very delicious It was so clean and comfortable, the shower was small but great. And the staff are so helpful. Great value for money.

United KingdomThe access to the hotel. There are nine steps from the street to access the lift to reception and rooms. Carrying cases up these, especially for older peole, is not good. The furnishings in the lounge are very tired and need to be replaced. It would have been nice to have had a hot dish available for breakfast and some ordinary bread as opposed to a selection of rolls and croissants.
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, Location, near to station with plenty of cafes and restaurants in the vicinity. Everywhere you want to go in Porto was within walking distance. Room was fairly basic but very clean.

CanadaWell located next to city hall, close to train and walking street with many shops, food & drink. Must climb one flight of stair to elevator with reception on 2nd. We were on 6th floor requiring another 15 stairs from elevator on 5th. Difficult with heavy luggage. Not suitable for elderly and handicapped. Continental breakfast was good & staff cordial & friendly. Wayne Montreal, Canada

PolandLocation excellent, just a few steps from the underground or buses, 300 m from Sao Bento train station, walking distance to see everything. Staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast is enough, you can find cheese, types of ham, yoghurt, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, tea, juices and delicious pasteis de nata served everyday! I would come back!

SpainThe floorboards were comically squeaky, really noisy when people start getting up at 7am. *to get the water to warm up for a shower, it took 3 full minutes of wasting water. In the current world, I think a solution must be found.
The location and the friendly staff made all the difference. Beds were comfortable and the shower powerful enough*

JapanThe elevator! It needs to run freely between floors without automatically stopping on the first floor every time, whether going up or down. It only holds 2 people with bags, and sometimes a guest must wait to get on for 5 minutes. Breakfast was adequate but needs eggs ... even hard-boiled would be better than nothing.
The staff at reception were the best in the world. Literally!! In my 58 years of travel, I have never met such warm and gracious people. Katarina, Georges, Tomas and Isabel are fantastic!!
